It’s got to be the full moon we had this past Monday. The unholy terrors have been out in full complement at my library, too. No porn, on my watch at least, but more difficult, mentally unstable patrons. Here’s to wine!

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, I’m sure. The reality of library work is probably fairly similar, at least if you’re working with the public. Personally, the public is the easy part, it’s dealing with our administration that makes me want to move to a small, book-filled but unpeopled island…

I used to intern at the Smithsonian as an undergrad. I was a research assistant and spent a lot of time at the Library of Congress. It’s one of the institutions I’m most proud of as an American.

Well, their professional focus IS on students. You can’t expect them to handle sexual assault claims between ADULTS properly. Apples and oranges.

Oh yes, I loved that show. They really rushed in making it a nightly show. It’s a pity they didn’t give him more time to work things out as a weekly.

Eh, I don’t feel uncomfortable disliking the shows, but I totally get your point. I think the shows are beautifully written and cast soapy garbage. I also admire the hell out of her for being able to bring her vision to life and make it a success.

I love this speech and really admire Shonda Rhimes, while simultaneously not liking any of the shows she has created. Crazy? Don’t care.

It’s totally anecdata, but I really do not react well to certain opioids. I’ve scared a couple medical professionals, and embarrassed myself mightily, to the point that I’ll generally ask if I can go for something that will mute the pain less but keep me awake. Some of us just don’t metabolize some things well.
