Surely BSG deserves to be on that list - a remake of a show that everyone thought was cheesy, puts the politics centre stage, and totally unafraid to show a world where prejudice exists but nowhere along the lines we’re used to. And the concept of ‘villain’ becomes incredibly murky.

Well brace yourself, I felt the second episode really went downhill, and I haven’t brought myself to watch the third yet. Every member of the family is completely unlikeable, and I’m not sure in any way redeemable.

you could do it one crash per series, per True Detective

Loved Airframe - would love to see that as a miniseriess

Prey is pretty awful in that regard (and one of the last Crichton books I read actually). The wife is very vilified for expecting the father to look after the kids, and though he makes a good effort of it, I think she gets a pretty nasty comeuppance. But it’s been a while

Crichton’s very anti-science unfortunately. Interestingly, only the baby boomer era white man in any of his works seems to have the ability to overcome hubris.

That’s bizarre - how do these people pretend they’re driving to work in the War Rig?

Yeah I think that theory works so long as it’s told well - and a lot of the fics do that :)

Eh, actually according to the interviews she lost her arm, it’s not a congenital birth defect, but there’s still a lot of good fic out there that takes the congenital defect line

Also you’re awesome, don’t listen to that other dude xxx

Yeah it’s the backstory in a lot of the fics, who all handle it much better than the comic. Though I also like the authors who decided Joe rejected her cause of her arm. That fandom is just gorgeous

Totally - the Mad Max repository is here and the Furiosa backstory fic I was specifically thinking of was She Decided which is kinda similar to the comic, in that Furiosa starts off hating the wives, but the wives are much more heroic in it.

THEY TRAITORED US!

I reject this backstory and adopt some of the many, many, wonderful stories on Ao3 instead.

Actually, no, *eyes on me*, THEN clicker. It’s a bridge to reinforcement, not a cue

Very good thoughts worthy of coming out of the grey

So straight/white/cis here - I just adore that aesthetic, I mean isn’t it gorgeous? Natural hair is stunningly beautiful in all its variations.

I was really hoping the film’s dialogue would be better than the book’s, but this is pretty awkward - the ‘goodbye crew’ moment is toecurlingly cringeworthy!

You have the joy of Fury Road ahead of you - there’s a part of me envies you that.
