I totally misread your post...but I totally agree.

I think this article sums up why I love Jalopnik. It goes beyond the superficial and the marketing and gets to the heart of my love for vehicles.

Often, if not always. Depends on what "practical" means. A Miata is practical if you need a 2 seat fun-mobile.

I fixed it.

I'm not convinced this is "#5". I think it's it's own badass thing...this thing:

Looks similar to this Oshkosh in Death Race 3 (which was a decent substitute for Mad Max at the time)

On:

4X4 van. You can get way out to the middle of nowhere and rest comfortably.

Full size van like a Sportsmobile?

Minivans.

Minivans are a pretty perfect way to camp. The VW Bus was the originator of this, but any modern minivan will do. My buddy converted his Odyssey into a quick and easy camper last year by adding a bed platform, storage, etc. He took a month off to travel around and is doing the same this year. Works

BFH.

How about the "bad guy tries to shoot the good guy, but the gun you hear go off is ACTUALLY the other good guy (or someone you thought was dead) shooting the bad guy" yay, the good guy wins!

Well said. Boxes are fantastic when done right. I loved my 05 xB - it was so roomy I once hauled a full tandem bike + 2 people with all the doors closed. Not so great in the wind.

But this is my favorite of all time and forever. Lapin Country Van concept:

Snorkel AND a smokestack type exhaust?! Yes sir!!!

Personally, as impressed as I am with the Mustang engines and engineering I would never buy a Mustang. If they put the same innards in a hot hatch, I would definitely consider it.

Does is come with flames and tassles? Please tell me it has tassles. Tassles rock.

In Florida in the 80's (maybe now?) you could get a learners permit at 15. I was chomping at the bit to drive, so I could have been 14 when my Uncle Art taught me to drive a stick. Art was the kind of guy who could fix anything, and loved tinkering on cars. Through him, I had my first taste of the joy and pain of

I'm extremely interested in a van for roadtrip/camping/boat hauling. Would really like 4WD, but so far only MB is giving us that. Guess there's not THAT much call for it.

Now playing

That was nuts! We didn't have a big jump when we did it in Atlanta in 2009. Here's a vid of our team:

Good stuff! Nice job stretching the legs on the Cruiser!

And I love Bartlett Wash and Moab. Been out there mountainboarding a couple of times.

Agreed. It really sucks that there aren't more choices like the Jeep. It seems like some automaker with a similar history in the rugged convertible (ahem, FJ40) would see the sales numbers and want a piece of it. But alas.
