I get the point you're trying to make - that people bought convertibles back then because they wanted to cool down. But that's not the reason for a convertible. A convertible is so, so much more than just a way to keep cool.

what the...
There were about 25 of these for sale on Government Liquidation and I was severely tempted to buy one, since the location was 2 miles from my house and I have a dirt track at my house which requires a lot of digging. I think they were going for around 8K.
I think I'm going Friday night. Fuller of Fuller Hot Rods (http://fullerhotrods.com/) is having a opening night party, which should be a hoot.
Will take some terrible pictures.
Planning and then making jumps and such that you know people are going to have a blast on is very rewarding. And running a skid steer is a hoot.
My backyard:
Big Data knows all.
I had a combo of #5 and #4: a diesel Chevette! It was amazing slow. But on the plus side the gas mileage was fantastic!
You left out the best photo!
Might have to hit up the East edition!
Atlanta: BMW 3 series. Or as I've heard it called "the Gay Camry". They are everywhere.
Somehow, while I had my SPG, I dated a girl who had a normal 900. A 2-Saab couple. It came in handy. I miss that damn SPG!
Am I the only one who thinks that this is an arranged race? It looks like the people grouped up at :30 or so are the finish line. And why would the MB turn around and head back? Maybe not as dangerous as perceived?
Oh how I miss my 85 900 SPG. Bought it with 150K on the clock and immediately drove it around the country, occasionally getting it stuck in the mud in Utah. $4500 for that pleasure again? Hell yeah. NP.
Owning two Saabs at a time is a logical choice, because once they start breaking down, you're going to need another one.
I-70 around Glenwood Springs, CO is fantastic!
What's this "European prestige" of which you speak?
There's no regeneration going on with those?
That's exciting! A 75mpg road trip vehicle that you can load down with stuff. I don't care how it looks, just make it roomy.
RIP Ash.
