I’m currently of no set opinion on the legitimacy of the assignment. Regardless of the legitimacy of the assignment, however, I’m already just simply against the complaint on the basis that it’s a complaint from a parent. Stop it parents. You have no jurisdiction on a university campus. Go away.

My grad supervisor complained about that once. It’s supposed to be - according to her it USED to be - that when an A student in high school got Cs in college, s/he realized the problem was with him/herself and worked harder. Now (again according to her) s/he thinks the problem is with the school.

You sure can. And you can tell the parents and students I said this, as well: Your high school instructor is doing you a huge favor. Struggle, resilience and the ability to accept and incorporate constructive criticism are skills. They require practice just like any other skill. These are not the kinds of skills

Yup. That was 100% it.

yes! i thought i recognized this guy. aside from being from san diego (i never went to UCSD), i briefly encountered the GPS project he did for migrants (totally up my alley in terms of my study).

She was just mad that SHE got a C.

I’ll buy someone forgetting there is a paper or presentation coming up. I do not buy that anyone on campus, much less anyone taking the class, is not aware of the ‘get naked’ assignment.

I know someone who took this class. It’s not only in the syllabus, it’s in the fucking course offering list that this is part of the class, so her daughter most likely knew before she signed up. According to my friend it wasn’t pervy at all. Students just had to be nude in a candle-lit class and everyone had to go to

calling arts professor Ricardo Dominguez “perverse” and accusing him of getting something out of all his students being naked.

Seriously. I teach at a uni and the likelihood of this as a random assignment is 0%. It had to be in the syllabus. Now, based on my experience, the likelihood of students reading through the entire syllabus is only about 50%. This is the best example ever of READ THE NOT-SO-FINE PRINT. Also, the prof must have been

It’s optional...?

girl is lying and thought she could get away with not participating in the final.

I had Prof. Dominguez as a guest lecturer at one time when I was at a fancy pants eastern art school. He wasn’t pervy at all, and this sounds completely up his alley in terms of performance art and the information being taught. He’s pushed boundaries and broken down barriers of communication in a lot of his work.

I mean, at both schools I’ve gone to the first day of class was always painfully reviewing the syllabus as a class with the professor. It was always a mixture of annoying and appreciated (because it wasn’t doing actual work) but with the number of students who seem to completely disregard the syllabus anyway I

Last semester I took a Master’s level course called The Body and the Culture of Modernity. It had a lot to do with performance art and the final could be either an artistic performance exploring the themes of the course or a paper. One girl had designed a performance that was set up as a huge web of red thread woven

It is an elective coarse, everything is spelled out in the syllabus. Its not like this was a surprise move to make everyone strip. I think failing to read everything before deciding to take the coarse , plus being immature , or other factors , or even having a doting helicopter mommy, does not excuse one. The failure

Yeesh! It’s none of the mother’s business first of all, second it’s an elective, third it’s extremely unlikely the students didn’t know about this at the beginning, fourth the student doesn’t have to do it if they don’t want to. “Emotionally naked”? Easy: LIE. Did no one see the Community episode where Troy didn’t

Did you go to SF State, Mark? Because I also had to write the summary of my sexual history and watch porn in a group setting.

This seems kind of creepy, but it’s an elective, it’s not a surprise, and why is the mother involved?

Oh please, it’s in the syllabus. And she can just get “emotionally,” naked if she wants to do something else. So....why not just do that? OFC I believe the other students when they say that it was in the syllabus rather than mom. Because mom wasn’t taking the class, so why would she have the syllabus. And as an alum,
