Interesting, I guess the workers comp is really structured more to protect the employees rather than workers. Just out of curiosity, does shit like that affect their ability to get or cost of workers comp for their workers?

Is it still workers comp if the employer actions are illegal/negligent? I know that there are exemptions from the typical workers comp system, maybe someone with actual legal expertise can weigh in.

Every time he says equipment, I think equipmunk.

If nobody gets sick, that means that the county public health people have done their job. Nobody getting sick is kind of the goal, there’s no penalty for achieving it

Part of the reason I haven’t moved to Somalia to escape the tax and regulatory burden is that even in Philadelphia, there’s a pretty reasonable chance that I will come home safely at the end of the day, and that when I come home I’m not doing anything to make my family less safe. I would argue that one of the primary

So if any workers get sick during this time, it seems like they have a pretty good case against Tesla. Going against a county health department order should be a big liability nono.

The more you lose, the harder it is to admit that you fucked up and it’s all your fault. It’s the whole “I don’t take any responsibility” thing

The majority of this country can’t count beyond 10 (7-8 if they work in some industries and are at risk of losing fingers) without taking their shoes off. Numbers don’t work here.

I’m quite confident that if I go about usual consumer behavior, I will place myself and my family at risk of dying. Is that the confidence you speak of?

I have no issue with the argument that we can accept some deaths to have a functional economy. I may disagree with you on that, at least in terms of how many and who we should be willing to sacrifice, but it’s an honest argument. Sayingherd immunity” is not an argument, it’s you using big kid words you don’t

Also just to be clear, I’m not arguing that the lockdown should go on for 2 years until everyone has access to effective vaccine. I think many places can start to reopen within the next month. But the goal of the reopening shouldn’t be to have herd immunity, it should be to minimize infections. Unfortunately our

The majority of the people using the phrase “herd immunity” can’t manage to define it, much less understand actual immunity, and tend to be of the Fox News persuasion. Can you show me in your original posts where you talk about reopening with all the precautions and universal masking and high risk populations? Because

So your argument is basically “The data are all bad, I know one guy who was able to get tested pretty easily, and we should just make decisions on the basis of crappy data and anecdote”. I don’t think you can find a single epidemiologist in this country who would agree with you that the number of deaths is being over-r

You mean the Texas that has the one of the lowest per capita number of tests done? I’m sure those number are super accurate and I’d totally want to stake my family’s health on them!

Cool, are you going to sign yourself and your kids up for getting this herd immunity that may or may not protect us from reinfection? Because that inflammatory syndrome that’s putting kids into ICUs in the places with high infection rates really makes me want to make sure that my child doesn’t get infected

Fuck, for $40 per hour I’d drink all the warm urine flavored beer they give me

That’s the stupidest comparison yet. We have multiple effective medications to treat malaria, as well as prophylactic medications + mosquito control. That’s part of why you don’t see Florida being overrun by malaria cases despite being a fucking swamp. The only reason it has such a global burden is because nobody

I’ve definitely wanted to circulate some very detailed opinions about some of my prior bosses. But definitely nothing sexist/racist. And I never did it because I like to keep my employment or get future employment elsewhere, and don’t want to be “crazy manifesto guy” when anyone calls for a reference

They showed him a bar graph of his gofundme legal costs money versus the google legal expenses

Our government has chosen not to collect revenue from people who can afford it to pay for thing that need to be paid for. This can most definitely be remedied
