That area is WAY too warm not to have an AC! I live in Phoenix and ours broke for a few days towards the end of summer. I felt like I was melting.

I'm wondering why there is no security screen in the window- let breezes through, keep criminals and insects out. I don't have aircon, and no way could I live with closed windows- especially as I live in Qld Australia, where it gets plenty hot. Luckily, between the nice breezes, the good insulation and a nice fan, I…
I dunno about this small town safer bizness i grew up in one in the mountains in a one stoplight place and my first grade teacher was murdered by her son and his friends in the 80's. Bad stuff happens, it's just that you tend to know who did it. I've also lived in some pretty rough areas and never was bothered. Meth…
I appreciate the self-deprecating mood lightening!! It was definitely needed. :)
Yep, it still blows my mind that places exist in which people still leave keys in their vehicles. I've spent some time in a couple and my bestest is currently residing in one. (She doesn't do that.)
Yes, but less often. The small Kansas town where I live hasn't had a violent crime since 1951.
Folks should live in whatever part of the country suits them best. That said, this isn't about it being California, except possibly the different cultural attitude towards the homeless. My boyfriend lives on the Westside of LA and previously in downtown Santa Monica, and the situation was worlds apart. It's about…
I'm a rube in a flyover state, and had my front door kicked in and house raided. Luckily I was not there. Unluckily, ever since I've had roommates I've stopped arming my security system because it has motion sensors in the house and control panels only in the master bed and by the front door, and even though I'd no…
Yeah, I was seriously, seriously, seriously hoping this was the annual Jezebel "Make Lady Talulah Crap Herself" contest. :/
I genuinely read the whole thing thinking it was going to end up being sleep paralysis or a hypnagogic hallucination. Pretty scary that it wasn't.
Person with disabilities here: Can we skip the word "handicapped?" Disabled is fine.
Cleaning people aren't trained on protocols. They are rarely given the correct tools to protect themselves. One woman complained in the video that the gloves "rip like paper."
I understand, but people often aren't trained or given the correct tools to properly handle clean up. They don't get hazmat suits or even protective eye gear most of the time.
Janitors are going to be exposed to shed viruses (mucus, feces, etc.) and are less likely to have received any sort of protocol on how to detect, handle or dispose of them.
Except that even a trained nurse in Madrid managed to catch Ebola while removing her protective suit. Good luck getting a cleaning person to follow protocol.
I think that cleaning people should be nervous. They already are exposed to all manner of germs, and this could kill them. It is scary for someone who knows they are going to be cleaning up vomit, urine, and feces.
I WISH they'd take me off their list! You know what I got this year that flabbergasted me? The Restoration Hardware Catalog(s). They came all bundled together in a brick that weighed 24 pounds.
fuck the mandoline in general! One of my fingertips has no feeling forever thanks to one of those.
