My moments of clarity can be pretty good, sometimes. Other times... not very much so in fact.

I was up in the grays alllll the time, "followed" or not and know that most of the long-term "promoted" commenters were too, for exactly those reasons.

I don't doubt it. Except maybe Rebecca, because that's just the vodka and her personal spiritual guide talking. ;)

I'm not going to speak for Jessica, but I think there's a world of difference between SURPRISE! HORRIBLE THING IN YOUR FACE (it's why sub-blog authors are so good about giving Trigger or NSFW Warnings) and going in, prepared.

Yes!

Jessica, I am so proud of you for standing up for your site, your authors and your commenting community.

it is so incredibly hard to disrupt the herd, but it's the only way things change. I get that it's hard, but you're a better person for it. And if the worst case scenario is that your herd is culled... good.

True story: I was once interviewed and quoted by USA Today when AOL went down for several hours in 1996/1997. SRSBIZ

"I know most people say 'ha-la-peen-yos' but I say it the other way,"

You fit right in here. Get yourself a nonburner account, stat.

You... I like.

I think, based on our experience, the propensity for violence - or retribution - only goes so far. Because you'd hurt more people than just the ones you want (desperately) to hurt. And that's the tipping point between good and not-good.

It's honestly fine, I'm kind of cackling like a madwoman, so.. all good. And thanks.

Always, ALWAYS ok.

Well, yk, what's important and all... lol, but srsly.

Thanks. We're going through the rapists appeals process now, so it's all fresh and raw again. (Also, lol with the OMG CAT IN A DRYER! comments.)

The sad thing is, you wouldn't. You think you would. You'd dream, fantasize, hope... But you wouldn't. Instead you learn how to live with the aftermath. You hope for whatever justice there is to be meted out. But you'd play by the rules. Because that's what good people do, even when they don't want to.

The door's open, so it was probably a half second, shared in gif form for an eternity.

If it hurts/stings/shocks you when it's your high school alma mater, just imagine if it's your daughter. UncleKim said tonight, shaking, that it was His Job to protect his daughters and I didn't know whether to commend him or dress him down for treating them like his property.

Ugh, fellow black-car-owner, ugh. (WHAT was I thinking? They don't even make an Audi nail polish in black. I mean, really.)
