"but the only thing I can think of is some sort of flagrantly
unacceptable behavior that the studio just couldn't appear to be
tolerating if it ever got out."
I didn't considering that but sadly it seems plausible (given the circumstances not anything I know about Lord and Miller).
Please, please don't let them be other

"We'll probably get a director's cut a decade or so down the line."
Don't hold your breath.
I highly doubt we'll get any director's cuts in a franchise like this but I guess we'll wait and see.

They've already wasted most of their time, I doubt they're going to work on anything else before the film is completed (if they're even contractually allowed to).
Seems like such a weird move.

I highly doubt Disney will start over at this point, they'll probably just bring in a run-of-the-mill director to finish things off or maybe even promote another crew member depending on what's left to do.
It would be weird if Lord and Miller just wanted to get their names off the film because at this point everyone

That's a weird example but even dropping out in post-production makes more sense than leaving so close to the end of the shoot.
It must be very expensive for Disney to replace them now (with the sets and union crew just sitting there) at least in the edit it can be a smoother transition to someone else taking over.

It seems unusual for sure. If it was just creative differences you'd think they'd just take the paycheck and finished the film even if it wasn't exactly what they wanted.
Their must be some repercussions for voiding their contract this late in the game and I can't imagine they'd do that without a good reason.

I had faith that they could shift gears and write something else.
Just because they nailed that tone on a couple of projects doesn't mean they can't do anything else.
I'm worried to see them go.

I guess I am lucky, perhaps the original version of the operating system doesn't auto-update and I never downloaded that first update.
I did have to do a factory-reset when I originally set it up and it crashed downloading some apps.
Maybe that would help you.

I wonder how different a language has to be for the TARDIS to translate it, for example if the Doctor picked up my parents from 2017 Cotswolds and took them to 2017 London would it translate 'woke', 'fleek' and 'lit' for them.

Not really, Love & Monsters, Blink, Midnight and Turn Left were all written to account for the actors schedules.

I saw a video on the Doctor Who facebook page where they said the locations were so hard to access they could get trailers up their for the actors and they had to use horseboxes, Capaldi seemed grumpy about it in the interview.

Barely.
It worked for "Bad Wolf" that this phrase would pop up constantly in the episodes that season but we'd never heard about it before or since but less so with Torchwood.
Everyone is just suddenly mentioning this secret organization foreshadowing that it's about to be important with no reason or context and it's

Yeah, I was hoping someone else would bring up Scream of the Shalka in this thread. The end of this episode really reminded me of that, that I thought someone else must have brought it up.
Considering almost all the cast from that episode have reappeared on the revived series, it's obvious the writers haven't forgotten

Missy hanging about on the TARDIS at the end reminded me of the Master in the oft-forgotten animated web-series Scream of the Shalka.
Where the Doctor (Richard E Grant) had a reboot with the mind of The Master (Derek Jacobi) who the Doctor trapped on the TARDIS to reform him (I think - it's been a long time since I

Oooh that's interesting. How did they contact you? Were you selling the brooch on Ebay?
Did you spot it in the episode?

Did Missy just hanging around fixing the TARDIS remind anyone else of Scream of the Shalka?
I haven't seen it since it first came out but remember it had Richard E. Grant as the ninth Doctor (this was before the series was revived in 2005) with a robot version of The Master who hung around on the TARDIS.
I've just

Wow, that's weird.
Mine has never updated once, I assumed that's why it still has the old 'star' rating system.
I wonder if there's some 'auto-update' system I turned off somewhere because I can't remember any of the apps updating.
Might just be a problem with your system.

I thought the first season of The Walking Dead did a good job at that, the characters you have in your group change for 2 episodes depending on who you save, as did The Wold Among Us (their best series IMO)
I was less impressed with what they did with Game of Thrones and haven't played anything since then.

That's so weird.
I use it on a 2/3 year old Samsung TV (48" I think) and it's fine, obviously the TV itself seems to lacks some processing power so none of the apps are particularly snappy.
Maybe I just have a very low bar for these things, I can't think of another service that runs way better.
The Amazon app is actually

Actually that's mostly where I watch it and had no problems, it crashes less than any of the other apps on there.
I'm glad it still uses the stars, I was so disappointed when I heard they were limiting it to a binary like/hate system.
