And that's where I disagree and is exactly what Persia was saying in his/her original comment.
For me Alien was about the bleakness of life, while one of the characters happened to survive that's not what I took away as the "point" of the story (most of the characters died horrible deaths).
I think Alien3 fits that tone

Just the tip?

Is pretty darn good, probably the best the genre has to offer. Although it's a mini-series and not really "superhero" (it's a comic-book inspired, pulpy, spy thriller), definitely gives me hope for the genre moving forward though.

I'm amazed that "modern network superhero TV shows" is a big enough genre to have it's own "Springtime for Hitler", sadly it's also yet to produce anything truely great.

"She comes from money."
Whereas I come on money… and then immediately regret it because I'm poor and have to spend that money and now it's all sticky.

Yea, when reading it I was thinking about how nudity could be obscured, the 'glowing penis' could be exaggerated for example so that it's just a blur of light, and most of the swearing could be all but removed.
But I still think the US censors would have trouble with the general tone and phrases like "cumworld" which

Zooming in and finding all those hidden porn references when reading on my tablet is fun.
Place there's the added element of danger as I'm reading on a public train and really should get through those pages as fast as possible.

Yay! I've been reading this on the train. Three issues in so far and just brought the fourth for tomorrow.
It's a lot of fun and I was just thinking how well it would work on TV.

As long as they can do the movie I'd be happy with that.

It's racist to belittle those who complain about racism in a public form, which is exactly what she was doing. Her sentiment seemed to be "make a film that caters to me and stop whining about your problems".

"some idea that voters should have opinions that come from some higher, more enlightened source of knowledge"
Who are foolish notion, that those in charge of deciding which films receive an award are more enlightened on the subject than the average person.
The whole point of having an Academy is that their opinion comes

Where those Batman films supposed to be a reboot at all? I remember reading somewhere they were intended to be the same continuity, just with a recast lead actor (like Superman Returns or any direct-to-video sequel). I assume because the tone is so wildly different people assume they're a separate continuity.
There

Wasn't there talk about him coming back in The Amazing Spider-Man film series? I don't see why it would be a continuity problem to reuse an actor from a different incarnation of the franchise.
I'm sure there's a better example but Craig's Bond comes to mind, that was a complete reboot and retelling of the character's

I think that's partly a price thing. Back then you'd have spend a lot more on basic TV and VHS player. If you shopped around and spent that much (adjusting for inflation) on a HD-TV and Bluray player you'd probably get something that last as long.
There are just cheaper options now too.

I watched it and wasn't sure either, the way they cut around to imply what was being shown on the TV was perhaps too subtle. I understood the decapitation but I wasn't sure if the skull-fucking was in my sick mind.

Yea, in another comment I agreed that it comes down to a system of checks and balances. It's just probability:
What do the two of you stand to gain? What do the two of you stand to loose? What is the chance of success?
It may seem 'cold' but it's not, it's actually maximizing happiness all round by choosing the most

Very good point.
In the first one of those examples we were both 17, so I know it wouldn't have worked out long-term, I just slightly regret not having a girlfriend as a teenager.
I also don't believe in "meant to be", we'd be very different people now if we'd dated then (not being with her made me stronger and more

I don't.
I preferred it to not having a friend. I also wouldn't call it 'pining' either , I know for sure I'd resent not spending time with them as a friend.
Pick an actress (or actor) you have a crush on: Would you say you're 'pining' for them? Would you stop seeing their movies because if you can't date them you don't
