I liked the alcoholic step-dad stuff too, I didn't realize there was much debate about it.
I look at the film as a series of vignettes and that was probably the most plot focused one (it could have a been a short-film in it's own right) and one of my favorites.

Considering how literally Drax takes everything I can only assume he actually believed Gamora actually exchanges sex for money.

I had that reaction in the cinema, I even rewound the sequence on DVD overtime, with perspective I like it less and less.
Still, as a one off moment, it's completely forgivable.

But I shat in one of those bags of popcorn and you don't want to know what I did with the soda… It's not what you expect.

I actually think the Clone Wars make a better prequel than the Starwars prequels.

It makes me wish I went to that school, maybe I wouldn't have got kicked out.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOUR FAAAAAACE?!?!?!

Yup, just waiting for all the extended editions to come out then I'll do that.
I already know how I'm going to get the first 45 minutes of the first film down to at least 15.
Aiming to make the whole thing under 3 hours, not sure I'll distribute it anywhere though, I don't feel like getting arrested/sued.

I think the distinction is useful to distinguish between a literal two dimensional character (like in Who Framed Roger Rabbit or the episode of Doctor Who Flatline) and a one dimensional character (someone without many dimensions to their personality).

"If somebody made a movie with JFK butchering Castro, people would be like:what!"
Once enough time has past, people will accept anything in their "historical" genre stories.
We've had Abraham Lincoln fighting vampires for goodness sake.

I have just made the same decision.
I'd not heard of this show at all until about a week ago, I then read up a lot of about it and have been umming and erring about whether I should give it a shot.
But based on this conversation, and the fact they'll be daily chats about it here on the AV Club, I figure I'll jump in.

I just want to see Bill Cosbey performing "the implication" scene from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Good points and I have no answer, it's why I find him so fascinating.
Just watching interviews with him as Childish Gambino he seems to have a completely different persona to when he's Donald Glover.
I've been tempted for a while now to put together a comparison video on youtube of his two persona because sometimes they

I agree with your comment although I'm not sure about that link.
I've seen other posts on that site "Your Fave Is Problematic" and they have a habit of taking stuff out of context or blowing it out of proportion. I understand the point is to counter-balance those who idealize celebrities but I think it goes too far the

double post.

Probably a combination of Netflix budget, the fact it's only voice work (so not a huge time commitment), the great scripts, a great casting director and a passionate pitch from the writer/producer/director.
If all the scripts were completed before casting that could have been a big factor, looking at the directors IMDb

Oh yea it was.
That speech elevates that whole episode, I really loved what he was saying but I still wasn't completely sold on the series that episode.

Agreed. This season of Doctor Who was really solid, so much so I feel like I'm slightly tired of singing it's praises.
So I'll just agree with you and add that I really loved the deconstruction of the Doctor and his long-standing relationships (with the Daleks, with his companions, with soldiers, with death and with

Well that's just not true, I think someone from hear has been messing with Santas list or black-mailing him.

"It's got Will Arnett, Aaron Paul, Alison Brie and Paul F. Tompkins in! Shut up and watch it! I DON'T CARE THAT IT TAKES THREE EPISODES TO GET GOOD! WAAAAAAAATCH IT"
