Jesus. That’s violently octogenarian.

Interesting (to me) that you’d remember liking that steering wheel. I have a fairly visceral reaction to it. I hate it. There’s something offensive and smug in its shape and layout. I think it’s because it screams to me in the same way those universal remote controls with the giant buttons you buy for your infirm…
I’ll generally admit that it is mostly a personal thing. My siblings and I all had Saturn’s as early cars, a few friends had them, and one of those friend’s SC is where I learned to drive a manual. So from about jr high through late college, a Saturn car of some sort was a staple of my daily life. It’s also why I may…
I’ve been on a couple of rallies with Adventure Drives, run by Rob Ferretti. On the most recent one, his 458 Pista definitely had brake dust all over it, as did the other Ferrari, driven by a youthful grandmother. Both cars definitely got their legs stretched.
At a certain point I think you just have to stop looking at Ferrari as being a car company and start looking at them as being an entertainment company. They design and build things that a whole lot of people look at, think about, and watch drive online - but the chances of them actually experiencing one in reality are…
A huge chunk of the reason I always carry on is because I’ve had the airline lose my luggage before. The most notable time was when my wife and I were on our honeymoon and our bags showed up two days after we got to our destination. And even then, the owner of the resort had to fly to the mainland to get them for us.…
When I read about that awful plan, my first thought was that they should pull the plug on the brand as a stand alone entity and just make “Infiniti” a trim level for Nissan. I mean, that’s effectively what they are doing anyway.
From that angle it’s getting dangerously close to the Oldsmobile and Aurora logos
ok fine - there might be 100-200 cars in the world that would sell for more than the $6.3M you’d have from investing $18K in an S&P 500 index fund in 1962.
If this was intended to be some kind of investment vehicle, it failed.
X4 is not even close: that lede image actually looks pretty good!
I could also see in that case some combination of less litigious times, spending enough time in non-competing markets (setting precedent about the naming being acceptable), and just that a Bentley being named Continental didn’t harm Lincoln’s Continental.
Oh yeah. Like I said: old paradigms, repurposed for modern content. It’s why devs keep saying dumb shit like “SSR is basically PHP again”, or “Aha! NoDB has looped back around to basically be structured data again”.
Welcome to late stage capitalism
Somebody at VW lost their job that day lol...like, how do you make this deal and not realize that (yet BMW clearly did, and took advantage of it)?
Excellent overview. Much appreciated.
What happened with Bentley and Rolls-Royce is fascinating.
I don’t doubt it. It just seems like it’d be tricky to get 7-8 of these “deals” lined up without someone coming to the dealership and asking where the hell their car was.
yes! yes! As honest citizens we would be appalled on the amount of crime, the our cities and FBI tracking manipulate to make everything seem better. Houston, Texas reports on average 40 cars stolen a day, but they don’t include the surrounding areas, even the areas that houston completely circles.
A peach and a grenade will each fit nicely in your hand. Which is it? Show me what’s in those service records and maybe we can talk. Based on what we know, ND.
