Granted, I never actually driven a 3 (but I have an S), but yes, the UI would not excite me at all, but can’t officially call it a Deal Breaker as I have not experienced it. But, low expectations for sure.

I test drove one of these years ago. 295 HP V6, AWD, comfortable as heck. Walked because I hit my head on the top of the doorframe getting in and out of the driver seat. I’m not incredibly tall either.
Stop tempting me. I see a high-mileage LR3 nearby. 4.4 V8. Not looking! Stop it!
Ugh - dude. I owned a 2005 explorer with the 4.0 and the 5-speed auto for about a year. I hated everything about it. SLOW, beyond reluctant to change gear, just misery in automotive form.
While not the same model, I have a C7 S6 (2014 with the same powertrain) and it has been a proper nightmare to repair. Over $12K in a year.
The 10-12 5.0s are rolling the dice, some of them go forever without a problem, others eat the timing chain. The timing job on them sucks, but it’s not the end of the world. The 2013+ 5.0 got revised timing chain guides that don’t shit the bed randomly. I’ve got a 2013 L320 and it’s one of the most reliable vehicles…
Wait what… *googles AJ126 pictures* *gasps* what an absolute abomination of an engine. Why didn’t I know that such a awfull thing existed? Just looking at the crankshaft almost makes me gag.
I definitely think Ford raided the filing cabinets at JLR for the expedition that came out following the acquisition - like a lot of the ford trucks/suv’s that came out after JLR may not have been directly related but they were all loaded with JLR’s learnings on building vehicles like that.
Yup, all the former Ford automakers needed their own engines quick after being jettisoned late 2000s, which of course meant a new modular engine family for JLR, Volvo, and Mazda.
I had a 750i and the battery started failing. The transmission wouldn’t shift and the windshield wipers turned on. Dealer had fun with that one.
They’re so tempting, especially the LR3 and LR4, because of the low low prices. I’d be mostly concerned with airbags and the air systems in general at the prices I’m seeing.
The E60 M5 is no joke. I had the SMG, which was my financial demise. I NEVER financially recovered from that car.
I’m happy to report that the V10 TDI is still alive and hasn’t visited my mechanic even once. Granted, I attribute that to the climate-controlled storage and the fact that I drive it very carefully. There’s probably a blood sacrifice to Lord Piech somewhere in there too. lol
The CT6 was the best usage of the Voltec tech. If I was in that market and/or needed a car that size, I’d have a hard time passing it up.
I know, I’d love that car as well, just a bit out of my price range.
I like inline-fours and don’t care about power.
Ouch!
Kyree - you get through more cars than I do. And that is saying something!
Agreed. I experienced enough vicariously through various acquaintances that made me steer clear of anything with a GM 60° V6 in it.
In 2009 they only made 96 of them!
