I’m not even sure what your point is here. All he’s saying is that the last ten years of Republican Party has been about strong stances that their base really gets behind. The democratic response has generally been to just pretend like it’s not there, compromise or generally capitulate. This is pointed out ad nauseam

This goes back into a discussion I had with a friend about how much about having a nice car is about ego. The reason I wouldn’t de-badge my car is because, it wouldn’t do any good, because it’s obviously what it is, but also because I just don’t care enough to.

When people say things like “Five Guys” and “Shake Shack” and combine that with “good burger” I get very confused inside, because both of those places are very slightly better than McDonalds, but not always. Even things like “Elevation Burger” and “BurgerFi” are fairly mediocre. So if the bar is Shake Shack, I would

This was my only gripe about the XPS, the stupid camera. Other than that it was such a quality machine. Now, if only they could make Windows 10 less annoying.

Like - an anti-sleeper. You took a fast car and made it “meh”. I like it. They’d never see you coming.

Or the car it isn’t

I’m old enough to remember the tail end of that one, growing up in the 80s. I had about 10 Mercedes stars.

You missed the silent “obviously,” but in case it went over your head - the point was that “humblebrag” isn’t a good thing and in this instance, we are positioning it as such.

I like option C. Get a car that no amount of de-badging could de-badge what it is.

That’s the thing though, the de-badge says everything and nothing. It can just mean you want to have a clean looking car, or you want to hide that you got the lease-spec model, OR it can mean you have an e39 M5 which is sleeper as all get-out, and you’re cool because you don’t give a fuck whether or not people know,

But there’s a third option. The de-badge. Which is clearly better.

Not really sure how I feel about this. It’s the opposite of the people who stick AMG and M badges on their C300/328i, but if you really don’t care if people know that your car is a sports model, how is this at ALL better than just the full de-badge treatment. De-badging looks great, makes the car look cleaner, and

The purpose of perspiration is to evaporate, eventually, because it takes heat with it, which is... you know, why we perspire. You can have a layer under this to wick away sweat, and it will evaporate and go through the waterproof layer.

Personally I think we should use the UK nomenclature and call them “estates”

Short term thinking. If we pay ten thousand dollars per capita (insured and uninsured) and some of the best single payer or hybrid systems in the world pay 7k why not do it?

Well, the problem is that now, he made such a big deal about it, it’s going to be pretty hard not to look like he capitulated, unless he finds an alternative way to get it done, or at least appear to get it done.

$200K if your salary is 10 million is a 2% increase in wage. I don’t know ANYONE, if money is the only motivator, that changes jobs for a 2% yearly increase.

Polls suggest otherwise. The support for medicaid for all or single payer, has a lot of voter support. There’s definitely a shift.

Why is the only option raising taxes? We ALREADY contribute, between our own contributions and corporate contributions, more than other developed countries per capita to our healthcare system. We could re-allocate a ton of that money and the net cost over what we are already paying could be pretty close to a wash.

Except for the Wrangler, those models have 1 or 2 years in the marketplace, so maybe FCA is actually crushing it. For what it’s worth. I think the Grand Cherokee is a tremendous value - especially used. The Wrangler continues to be a lot of money for an admittedly good machine, but I wouldn’t buy one.
