> And that’s just so stupid, short sighted and counter productive. Who cares who fucked up? Learn from it and don’t do it again.

Oh, that. Eh. I felt like it was intended to reinforce the setting, this is a warzone, there is no reprieve, this is what people on Earth have been living with constantly while you’ve been kicking back in your luxury space cabin between missions. Plus, who doesn’t like shooting husks in a barrel?

Everyone loves Garrus. Nobody wants to shoot Turians.

I wasn’t completely sure I was interested enough in the behind-the-scenes side of video games to buy your book; I enjoy your writing but sometimes it’s a bit too in-the-weeds for me (I’m tangentially involved in the software business, so while I understand the corporate and political machinations, they don’t always

I cringe every single time I hear there’s a prequel being considered. Very few people seem to create a good prequel no matter what medium it is.

What an incredibly sad story. It feels like we live in a small golden age of incredible video games: Breath of the Wild, The Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, all of which are technological marvels in one form or another. For Mass Effect, a property ripe with untold potential, to crash so hard in development is truly

I’m fine with that too, up until I don’t get a sequel to the game. :)

The thing is, yes the game is the worst of the ME games, but I wouldn’t consider this to be a bad game. The major issue to me was the animations, which got fixed in a patch. Now, the game is pretty solid. Combat is still good, I like the multi class build for the pathfinder, and the land/mako aspect of the exploration

I feel the same way. I put a little over 80 hours into my play through and had fun with it. Of course, I would have loved to have more new alien races to meet and a better variety of enemies, and a better villain...and well, other things too but I still enjoyed the adventure. Technical issues really don’t bother me

this is what happens when you get greedy and/or fail to understand what made your product great. what made mass effect great was the story, the setting and the atmosphere. not having hundreds of blank planets to explore.

ask anyone that played the first 3 games and sure ... some of them will tell you that yeah,

I don’t understand why EA or Bioware wouldn’t comment. This article actually makes me ALOT more forgiving towards them. Now that I understand why it fell apart and see that they were REALLY trying to deliver something unique, I feel like cutting them a break. Jesus guys, next time - take a breath and just try to

I enjoyed it, too. Not as good as ME2 or ME3, but it reminded me a lot of ME1: ambitious, but rough. Here’s to hoping the Andromeda sequel isn’t shelved for long.

In some ways, BioWare employees say, this initiative is great. Collaborating across studios can lead to some solid creative mind-melding, and it’s far easier to recruit in Montreal and Austin than it is in Edmonton, a city best known for its obscene temperatures and giant shopping mall.

Honestly, the bad reception is still a little stunning to me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s my least favorite of the ME games. However, when the other 3 are all all-time faves, that’s not saying much. I thought the game (well, as far as I’ve played, probably 50 or 60 hours in, maybe a little more, maybe a little less)

The biggest problem with ME:A is the lower quality of writing. I was able to stomach the bad animations at launch, but the underwhelming character, story and dialog writing was the biggest crime of Andromeda. And we all should have seen it coming. ME3's DLC Omega was written and developed by Montreal, and it suffered

Again, amazing read. Between your amazing the story behind articles and every fantastic opening to your Destiny articles, kotaku is so much better with you here.

They put a studio in charge of this that had never done a big project, and then had them do one of the biggest projects imaginable. Then you add EA/Bioware office politics and Casey Hudson who was the decisive factor in the ME3 ending and you get Andromeda. A hot mess with a ton of unrealized potential.

Sounds like they know what went wrong and could easily remedy that next time around, but instead are possibly giving up. I’m really enjoying Andromeda.

I’m glad they came though with an album. I know a lot of people were talking shit when they didn’t immediately drop and album after their kickstarter.

Politics aside, dayum Chilli can still rock a crop top.
