We were waiting to go into the midnight show of Wonder Woman and I just started purposefully spinning. Just like I used to do when I used to play Wonder Woman.

LOL keyword obviously being almost. ;). Iron Fist had a few interesting parts (Ward ended having a surprisingly decent arc), but Gao was by far the best part of the series.
Another nod to female villains in the Marvelflix series: Madame Gao is one of my favorite villains of the past few years. I love her so much.
Ahh I see. Yeah I think the superhero aspect and the lack of male gaze aspect and female director aspect are the key points here.
It’s also about this being a landmark for a woman-fronted SUPERHERO movie, specifically.
The Hunger Games is not, yet, as influential and important as Wonder Woman.
When I was a boy, Superman (Christopher Reeve) was everything to me. I am so fucking happy that girls today have their Wonder Woman.
Who could forget the decades long influence of Hunger Games in all forms of media?
Ah yes, that movie based on the famous comic books we all know and love, The Hunger Games.
That’s stupid. It’s not like this is the first movie with a great female lead, and nowhere here does anyone say it is.
I was super excited about Dr. Poisen. Not only do we need more female heroes, we also need more female villains. Especially because her superpower was her mind. She was the smartest person on the enemy side. Could’ve done without Ares being an old white dude. Etta stole my heart.
I needed to see a woman kicking ass and fighting for justice, but more importantly, I needed to see her achieve it by herself, on her own merits, by being the hero because it’s the right thing to do.
I went to see it with my 11 year-old stepdaughter last night. At the end, she turned to me and asked if we could buy it as soon as it came out on Amazon Instant Video, and that Wonder Woman was now her favorite superhero, “Sorry Black Widow”. So it meant a lot to her, at least, and I’m glad DC gave that to her.
My friend laughed at me because as the trailers came to a close, I put my hands to my face and whispered/pleaded, “please let this movie be good.”
What about Hunger Games?
Hah!
It also seems like the kind of thing you only need to do if you choose to hang around crappy people. (In my experience, my kind of people don’t spend much time with crappy people.)
I think I only uptalk to my Dad and husband when I know their attention has wandered away from me (and almost always towards the lil munchkin doing something cute). Unfortunately, they’ve both become really good at parroting back the last thing I said.
they now know that you lack even a basic understanding of what you’re talking about.
