I agree insomuch that I think this was a very reasoned explanation that I’m happy to take at face value. I do have suspicions that this explanation may be omitting a lot. What’s not mentioned here is game production delays, potential setbacks (grapevine suggests that some music was sent back because they focus-tested Read more

But would have customers really demanded full refunds if id had just told them that the OST would come months later? Its not like the OST was the only thing that was inside it. Or does a refund in this case means you dont have to return the other stuff inside?

If they’re not willing to work with him on the DLC, it’s unlikely they’re willing to work with him on future titles either. There’s a good chance they’ll use the search for a DLC composer to find a suitable long-term replacement too.

It’s precisely because Vrooman was in Picnicface that this seems so odd. I feel like there’s little chance he wasn’t aware of Everything Is Terrible. Best case scenario, this is somebody not Googling the title.

I think many would agree that the lack of a formal union for game devs is the problem.  If you’re advocating for some economic model that completely removes capitalism, I’m not sure if that would be a better solution.

But it’s not capitalism that’s a problem. It’s that people aren’t capitalisming nicely, right? Or somehow this is “crony” capitalism (which, incidentally, is just regular capitalism) or a few bad eggs or something. Actually, I forgot. It’s the pirates who are taking food from the mouths of hard-working developers. No Read more
