I saw the statement in Facebook right after it was posted, didn’t even think about the SOTU. I liked the statement, I understood her reasoning and her regret. She makes no bones about the fact that hindsight is 20/20, in fact she devoted one of many paragraphs to that idea.

I usually avoid opening day but I will be there right after work to see “Black Panther”. I may need several cups of coffee. I have been excited about this movie since the announcement. Then when we found out the director and the cast I was ready to buy tickets.

This movie is about to make all the fucking money, and I’m going to laugh when white people don’t understand how or why. Or when they try and give credit to white people for it’s success.

You know it’s directed by the same guy who directed Fruitvale Station and Creed right? You can expect it to have just as much implicit messaging as Wonder Woman and Fury Road did.

Remember to check your tickets to make sure they say BP on them. A while back some movie theaters was pullin the okie. People were going to see whatever black movie and the ticket said whatever clear slime movie was playing at the same time and it messed with the sales numbers.

I usually avoid opening weekend for movies (crowds=yuck) and my daughter doesn’t even like comic book movies but we just got our tickets for Thursday, 2/15.  We’re all about sending a message to whoever that, yes, a movie not starring white men can make money.
