I thought Thor: the Dark-World's credits scene w/ the interdimensional monster romping around chasing pigeons had mass appeal & only required attention spans / memory for the last 30 minutes of the actual movie.

I really, really do like the look of the film. Esp all the tech. The space station is a huge homage to 2001, right down to the establishing shot, and I'm not so psyched on the iWorld they created up there (most likely the purpose of said design vs. the real world). But, the robot / weapons / ship / exosuit designs…

I agree w/ how I managed my expectations. At the same time, the Trailer (the subject of this io9 article) didn't exactly reset everything to baseline; it's cut to capitalize on the things that made D9 great.
