> Man I’m so glad that Yoshi-P is helming this, because otherwise I’d be scared I’d be stuck hyping this thing for a decade.

It wasn’t difficult, there are plenty of step by step guides out there to follow. Most difficult part was sitting there waiting for the installers to do their thing and hoping they don’t brick your console. :)
> The PS3 I’m going to attempt to get it repaired since it’s the BC model and I would be set after that.
I played the crap out of Wizards and Warriors as a kid. Still have a boxed copy on the shelf, actually. Never did play any of the sequels, though.
Don’t trust China, China is asshoe
Greatly prefer physical. I still need the ritual of seeing games on a shelf, pulling one down and putting it in the console. If I see an icon on a console’s dashboard but no tactile memory of the game itself, I feel less motivated to play it.
My mistake with “Summer of Adventure” was in trying to stay caught up with all the new releases that came out. By the time FF9 came out, I was *done* with console RPGs and could barely convince myself to finish the game.
Chrono Cross is a top 5 all-time soundtrack for me. I’ve played the game through once in the last 20 years, but the soundtrack? Probably listened to that about 800 times.
Back to the Future 2 & 3 on NES... what an absolute pile of garbage that game was. 9 year old me was not happy to have wasted allowance money on it.
Cat-holding functionality should come with a struggle mechanic where the cat may insist on being put back down after a few seconds. If you don’t hit the “put back down” button fast enough, you take minor damage and the cat jumps down anyway.
Just needs Kurosawa mode turned on so it’s got that grainy black-and-white aesthetic to it. I play with that mode enabled sometimes just for the novelty of it.
> I mean, backward compatibility is a relatively recent phenomenon
At my day job I spend way too much time listening to project managers and beancounters debate whether certain features will make our software product any money, or whether a project has too much R&D overhead. Basically all the soul-draining monotony that you get when you move out of development and into management.
Super Luigi 64!
> as well as bottles of pills, which you use to upgrade your personal abilities
At the time I didn’t care for the “hey kids, the crystals are back!” marketing Squaresoft was pushing. Felt like that was pandering a bit too much considering FF7 and FF8 were successful entries to the series.
> It makes zero sense to me the amount of hate Abby and this game are getting.
This might be the first time I’ve heard the terms “rehoming” and “forever home” to associate with giving up something other than a dog or a cat. Doesn’t sit well.
> If you value your sanity, do not try to knock out every single little side-quest in this game.
What if it’s really a pen and paper game, or like a board game with dice where you roll to see how much damage you do to a pile of boxes, and Cloud is having so much fun with it you’re actually playing him imagining himself going to town on all those boxes for real?
