Originally I thought the lack of new articles recently was some sort of “some things are more important than games” statement relating to the war in Ukraine, so imagine my disappointment when I sort a comments section by new and see that G/O and that absolute herb Jim Spanfeller are all back on their bullshit again.

In addition to some things being too good for PS1, I feel like the polygons jittering around on screen (which was a thing due to the fixed-point nature of calculations iirc) was overdone in this demo to the point that it looks worse than it probably would have in reality.

I don’t think I would qualify these as a mess. The games themselves are fine. FF3 is actually more than fine, it was pretty great getting to play that in a 2D format and not the weird 3D business they had going on the DS version.

I was actually ok with the font as it was, but when I played the FF5 remaster, I plugged in the Cornelia Sans font mod out of curiosity and that just looks way better. Would be nice for S-E to listen to some feedback on this topic.

*queue Dan Lambert screaming about Championship Wrestling from Florida*

I’m questioning why you felt it was necessary to call that out. It’s a nickname that he wears and occasionally introduces himself by. There is no need to be upset when it’s used. Nobody gives a shit in 2022 who did or didn’t give it to him.

> according to a new Bloomberg report.

As someone who has to deal with stuff like this at work from time to time, the purpose of the FAQ is to pre-answer most questions with “no, we don’t know right now”. It won’t satisfy those who won’t get their questions answered, but it will stop some people from emailing HR for a bit.

At this point he’s earned so much goodwill for his work on 14 that sometimes I wonder if he’s actually a primal and we’re all just his tempered minions.

I’m surprised that you’re surprised. Tribalism and people having opinions on things isn’t exactly unique.

> I’m leery of getting into one when everyone else is at max level, geared to the nines and I’m just starting out. I think people might not like this but I’m playing Season of Mastery and the great thing about WoW Classic’s SoM is that everyone started over together.

First run through dungeons always seems (to me at least) to be a little more impactful if you do it with trusts. Experience it in the context of the story, with the characters involved, at a slower pace so you can take in the surroundings and pay attention to the dialogue between the characters. Then once you’re done

You dare besmirch the good name of Fashion Fantasy XIV?

Everyone last week: remember that example the devs showed that demonstrated how out of focus they were during the 1.0 days? The barrel with 100,000 polygons? Sure glad they’re focusing on more important things now!

I’m here for it. Give us more ring slots, Yoshi-P!

Yeah, they have story/level skip stuff you can buy off the cash shop to boost up to certain points. I agree with you on the notion of if it takes 100+ hours to get good, then there’s a problem. The stories from Heavensward and Shadowbringers are very easy to recommend to people who don’t mind the notion of a JRPG

I wonder what Tetsuya Nomura thinks about a Final Fantasy game *without belts*.

Paid accounts have been given priority in the login queue for years, so there’s nothing really new about this. Good that they’re reiterating the policy now though. Things are going to be wild come Friday.

My initial thought when reading this headline was that this was some sort of sequel or spinoff of Bahamut Lagoon that I’d never heard of before. Sure doesn’t look that way, though.
