Who else is hoping for a bad, almost unforgivable Brooklyn accent?
Who else is hoping for a bad, almost unforgivable Brooklyn accent?
I was going to comment that this is the exact definition of barking up the wrong tree, but it's pretty clear that these scumbag dickwads see lesbians as weird freakshows that they can poke with a stick ... the stick being the penis they will never ever want inside them. It's all about power and having the ability to…
The lack of representation on television (and movies too, of course) has been something I've been thinking about a lot lately. I do think it has to be looked at on a macro level because if the problem wasn't long-term and in the majority of entertainment/media, a show like How I Met Your Mother wouldn't be a problem.…
Yeah, can we get that story next?
I remember catching Sports Night reruns on Comedy Central in the early 2000s. I was about 13.
Absolutely no offense to young fans of Glee (I enjoyed the hell out of the first season, so I get the appeal), but I'm just thinking of teens going to it expecting something lighter and Glee-y and getting child abuse and abortion and death. Although if you wanted a musical to teach teenagers why proper sex education…
I'm amazed by actors who know roles like this on cue. I minored in theater but never actually did performing in college (mostly screenwriting/play analysis classes), but I have this recurring nightmare where I'm playing Lady MacBeth and know 0 of my lines and so I just start winging it ... I can never remember if the…
The last thing I saw her in was Wicker Man. Oh, she tries so hard to elevate that movie. It didn't really work because ... yeah, it didn't really work. But she tried.
I do like the idea that Watson is prepared to deal with the BS that comes along with her aging like a freaking human being. And that she's ready to push back against the BS.
And does anyone else think not-Mystique's hips look super skinny? Maybe it's how she's standing but in case the actress' face didn't hint to you that it wasn't Jennifer Lawrence, the hips sure did.
One of the more interesting classes in college I took as part of my Lit degree was a Midrash course. It baffles me that more Christians don't see the Bible as a document meant for ongoing interpretation, not meant to be taken literally.
Well, danger IS funny. They've got us there.
But if you read the last Scott Pilgrim book (which I think might have come out after they were done filming anyway), having Scott end up with Knives kind of undermines everything that happens with Scott's growth into a real adult instead of staying a guy trying to not avoid that growth. While the newer movie ending…
It seems that people who are against giving aid to the poor (cough cough Fox News cough) do so in the same breath as they call poor people scam artists who aren't really suffer, who are actually bad people who just happen to be super lazy. So showing someone who is empathetic and is struggling to survive ... that's…
So is this basically a Mary Sue criticism? That this woman is too perfectly empathetic and therefore .... something?
If they really wanted to go for a joke, they could have said, "These ladies look adorable, but maybe next time they can wear the Flash instead and see if their times improve!" See, it's not making fun of the girls and it's a comic book joke! Win win!
Yeah, I thought wearing funny clothes was relatively normal in marathons.
Even if she didn't have cancer, you must have a lot of nerve specifically asking a person for a photo of themselves for your magazine and then mocking her in it. You know that she knows that you're putting it in and will check the magazine. Pretty tactless even without the added detail of her struggling with a major…
That's so weird. My mom (who was born in '55) told me when I was learning to read that she thought it was great that I was learning phonics because she didn't learn it that way. I wonder when phonics really started and when it started getting phased out.
I think the "led to a decline in teen births" is a bit misleading. Not saying that the show absolutely didn't help the statistic, but is there any evidence the decline is directly from the show?
