And in many cases they were still more than they are now without adjusting for inflation. When I was a youngster (late ‘70s through mid ‘80s), I flew from Buffalo, NY to Orlando, FL more than a few times. And I remember those tickets being in the $500-$600 range, round trip.

People want cheap.  Yes, I remember as a kid that flying in the ‘80s was awesome.  Costs were also like 2.5-3x of what they are now, adjusted for inflation.

The older I get, the more often I find the answer is just capitalism.
