its disgusting.

I like CeraVe. SPF 15 (I think they have a 30, too), sensitive skin friendly, buy at the drugstore. I used to use Kiehl’s but this makes my skin happier.

Kathleenlights would be great for you then! And don’t be nervous about lipstick! for my first lipstick like... 3 years ago, I bought a great red and made myself wear it all the time. It helped me get over my nervousness about wearing lipstick and now I wear all sorts of colors! It’ll be fun once you get comfortable!

co-gender? my lexicon, it doth grow.

Oh wow I had no idea the hormones are localized with Mirena... I thought it would pretty much be just like the pill and affect everything. That’s really good to know, thank you! It does sound pretty freeing, I’m considering it more seriously now.

I totally get it! The university where I teach has weird times also, we get two weeks break between sessions (which last 16 weeks), so we’re just catching our breath when it’s time to do it all over again.

I do like it though, teaching is so rewarding (even if it sounds cliché).

Interesting... Are the type of hormones in the Mirena different than in the pills? I’m super worried because I am easily affected by most artificial hormones and scared to take a chance. I hate feeling like my mood/emotions are out of my control, and I hate having my sex drive lowered. At least with the pills I can

Oh damn, I need to get to finishing my lesson plans...
Hours worked outside of school should also be compensated, shouldn’t they?

Were there any after effects for you?

I have a Mirena since March. Insertion was hell and I cramped continuously for 1 month after it. But I’m THRILLED I don’t get periods anymore. Incapacitating cramps are no more. And they are perfectly safe outside of the, like, 0.0002% of freak cases. I’ll take that kind of chance.

As someone else mentioned, for me the benefits seemed to so greatly outweight the potential negatives that I didn’t even really consider them. I got mine because of super painful cramps that painkillers weren’t helping. I’ve had a Mirena for a little over a year now, and have very few complaints. Insertion hurt SO BAD

High five! Go you!

My IUD (I went with Mirena) is the third member of my family. I absolutely LOVE it. I can’t speak for everyone, obviously, but I have had zero negative side effects. The only ones I’ve had are the loss of all of PMS and basically a period-free existence.

I'm on my 3rd Mirena. 12 years. No periods, no problems.

For me, it was absolutely awful, like almost as bad as when I had a kidney stone. But I’ve also heard it can be worse for women who haven’t given birth (me) and I assume I also have a low pain threshold. In fairness, I didn’t realize I was getting it inserted the same day as the consultation, so I would have taken a

those side effects are rare. talk to your doctor! i have mirena, i’ve had her for 13 months now, and it was the best decision i’ve ever made, no joke. my biggest regret is that i didn’t get one sooner. the insertion hurt for me quite a bit but it was over in under a minute and now i have no periods (NO PERIODS!!!) and

Boys suck.

They just have to give you the absolute worst-case scenario for legal purposes. It rarely happens. I’d talk to your doctor about which IUD is better for you personally, the Mirena (low-dose hormonal IUD, you may have symptoms if you are sensitive to hormones but your periods are really light), or Paragard, the copper
