No, you aren't getting the difference.

You know, I'm fairly new to Jezebel, and maybe this should be obvious to me, but... what is with Jezebel's brand of feminism?

In this theoretical world, I think that this conversation needs to happen before *conception* (or any sexual activity), not before viability, so they can end the relationship if their views differ widely. I have! Most mature adults should know where they stand on babymaking and abortions if they're going to have sex

If we all agreed on that, we wouldn't have to worry about child support laws.

I was going to say, can we have an article that, like... explains WHAT HAPPENED?

This makes me sad. I can see the benefit, in theory - if you are sure you're going to stay in your relationship (ex. young kids, can't financially separate) but no longer have a connection with your spouse, this could make a long haul a little bit easier. This would have been interesting for my parents, who are

I don't know about other women, but I used to be "more comfortable in heels". I wasn't. I told myself and my friends that I was, because that was what we thought a cool, sexy girl was like - similar to "oh, granny panties, I don't know how anyone can stand them!" I had to employ so many mind tricks to convince myself

This is beyond stupid, because evolution isn't really happening anymore - because we have technology and civilization, the process of natural selection is over. If we do "evolve" in the next 100,000 years, it will be through selecting which babies are brought to term by looking at their DNA.

I would looooove to know how they settled on "20 sexual partners" = slut.

Oh, by the way, where I live, there are no legal restrictions on abortion. They can be performed up until birth. Obviously the incidences of this are very low - since, likely, women who don't want/can't have a baby would have known months earlier, and had the procedure done then - but it is not regulated by law.

Nope, I'm making no claims about when abortion is or isn't okay. I'm just arguing your use of the word "independent". I am independent from my parents in that I can walk down the street without their involvement or permission. It also doesn't require a serious and potentially life-threatening surgery for my mother. A

Me too! But I think this boils down to many of us not trusting the American legal system to use these precedents in the right way, in addition to emphasizing the importance of the fetus rather than the harm done to the mother.

I'm using that. "Crazed special evil snowflake complex". I will cite you.

Hey, wait!

The only problem with your argument (as far as internal consistency goes) is the fact that something serious still needs to happen to the woman's body to get that fetus (or baby, to you) out of her body.

Yes!! This is what I've been stressed about since that charge was hinted at. I was hoping this article might start to tackle that issue. Calling the killing of a fetus "murder", let alone "aggravated murder" sets a precedent for abortion legally being considered murder, along with the situations you mentioned. Scary.

Good questions! But I think they're mostly answered by other comments on this article.

Also, this could very well be self-published. Doesn't sound like the most amazing book...

But ScarJo also has a lawyer - probably several - so I doubt this lawsuit is completely unfounded. It would be a complete waste of money and free publicity for the author. Celebrities aren't "normal" people, yep, which means that their identity is also their brand, and they treat it as such.

Maybe article writers need to point out that this, statistically speaking, seems to be the exception rather than the rule.
