A couple weeks back there was a fake version of VLC on there as well. In the Play market, not some disreputable 4th party site. I was all excited, then wondered where all the push ads were coming from after a couple days and traced it back. Reported it to Play, reported it to Videolan, now it's gone.

Mine was horrible for about a week, but eventually seemed to stabilize after about 20 crashed reboots. If you still have Dolphin on there, purge all of that and the extensions and you'll probably see an improvement.
