I’ll defend it.
The Professor would bitch slap you for your pedantic stupidity himself were he alive. As it stands, I’ve sent a telegraph to the Tolkien estate, you can expect Christopher to be there shortly to gently pummel some sense into you.
I mean, you could compare Harry Potter to any hero’s journey. Lord of the Rings has wizards, an unnameable dark lord, and a horcrux, I say it’s close enough for jazz.
Harry Potter is just dumbed down Tolkien. We had already run out of ideas.
Tell us what you think that word means.
I know if I ever get publically shamed for a bad date, I’ll make sure that when I’m at work a year from now, I’m using my spreadsheets and databases to start provocative conversations about the fact.
What makes you think he’s not already doing that stuff too? Do you know something we don’t?

I’m pretty sure I ONLY watched it because of some or another comment I saw on the AV Club (probably in a Year of the Flops comment section about a different weird movie). I don’t remember what the comment was, or who made it, and I definitely never told the poster that they inspired me, so...who knows, you may have…
To be clear: the “unhinged” person I describe is an *adult* at the time in the movie that he is shown, talking about abuses from years earlier.
To play devil’s advocate, I had to read May’s apology twice to make sure it wasn’t sarcastic. If you read the whole thing it seems pretty clear it’s not, but I’m so conditioned to expect the worst from the internet that when I read, “ I had no idea that saying someone was innocent until proven guilty could be…
Did you see Spotlight? It was pretty scary how easy it was to write off at least that one accuser because superficially he seemed to be a little unhinged.
This is a good post, and by good I mean terrifying and heartbreaking.
Hot take: that’s kind of how I feel about Star Trek
