Ah, I see now that the review specifies that the new Chucky is animatronic (and googling, it looks like that’s been a big talking point, shows you how much I’ve been following this movie). Thanks for correcting me.

I assume the author kind of means “uncanny valley” as a stand-in for “digitally produced, rather than practical effects.”

Well, I’m pretty tired of zombies and vampires, I’m definitely ready to lean hard into a Golem fad, if that’s what Pixar wants to kickstart here.

I remember seeing this guy on Comic Strip Live when I was a kid, and I just turned 40. 

I always thought the template was “hurr durr what if ____ but bad amirite” 

I didn’t mind Arkangel, that wasn’t even the worst of S4 (Crocodile was the worst of S4 imo).

Every one of these felt like a mashup of previous greatest hits. The first one was San Juniperno meets The Entire Story of You with a dash of Playtest, second reminded me of Shut up and Dance only kind of boring, and the third was USS Callister by way of Waldo Moment.

Honestly, I don’t think there’s one of these three new ones that I would recommend to anybody except the die hard fans. Until you’ve seen everything in S1-4 twice (even the lame ones) and you’re just jonesing, there’s no reason to watch these.
