All companies whether they are heavily profitable or barely profitable ALWAYS past the cost of anything onto the customer. That is how business works.

I’d buy that if it were a civilian ship but... it’s a military ship. Homicide is kinda its raison d’être. I suppose you can still argue suicide, but I doubt any military would accept such a restriction on its available options (if nothing else they too would be aware of the self sacrificing hero trope.)

I would agree with you, except. Trump. Is. The. Fucking. POTUS. So long as he holds that position and its accompanying powers, it matters what he thinks and says, turnip brain notwithstanding.

Same here. I think it’s a combination of sticking it to the draconian tech-suppressing rules, and the cheating tends to be quite clever. Both appeals to the tech nerd in me.

18.5:9, really? If we’re not going to even keep to integers anymore, can we just switch to N:1 nomenclature so it’s obvious at a glance how tall/wide a screen is? This phone is 2.05:1, whereas the now-traditional 16:9 is 1.77:1, and so on (once that happens we’ll eventually drop the implied “:1" which would be fine

Almost all of our carbon footprint serves no actual useful purpose for survival. I would be willing to bet that pets provide a significantly better “quality of life improvement per carbon ton equivalent” ratio than most of our other expenditures. And no, a stuffed animal isn’t going to produce the same benefit.

Meh, I can solve it in under 1 second. It’ll probably take me a couple dozen quintillion tries though.

No, they didn’t agree to it. Sure, they clicked on “I agree” to a huge block of text that included it, but that’s a very different thing as the courts will attest.

I doubt Trump (or the other frowny old farts behind him) even recognized that it was Daft Punk. Whereas Macron clearly did. The best was that lady totally rocking out in the stands.

Particulate matter in the stratosphere would not cause more precipitation, as that’s well above where raindrops form. Ash at lower altitudes probably will initially trigger some additional rainfall, but it will rain/settle out very quickly. I’m not sure what the mechanism for the posited decrease in rainfall would be,

The climate effects are from fires (i.e. burning cities) that result from the nuclear weapons, not from the weapons themselves. Nuclear testing by and large avoided such effects, being conducted in deserts, at high altitudes, undergound, etc.

This. Nuclear winter has almost nothing to do with the nuclear weapons themselves, but rather than enormous firestorms that would result in the aftermath.

I often, though not always, stand because I’ve been seated for several hours and would rather wait standing rather than sitting. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if the majority of people in the plane felt the same way.

It has nothing to do with the sensor and everything to do with the processor. Incidentally this can shoot 4K... timelapse (where the bitrate isn’t very high.)

Professional shooters and serious hobbyists prefer full frame cameras over cheaper and lighter cropped sensor and micro four third cameras because the larger camera sensor allows you to shoot more of what you’re looking at and provides a better field of view.

It might have to do with the low framerate of the film. Linear motion works OK even at low frame rates, but repeated motion can break down into what looks like a random jumble if the sampling speed isn’t much higher than the motion frequency.

LOL, that ramen sandwich basically reinvented the yakisoba-pan.

I think it’s only really relevant if you have a bunch of devices. At home, having 4 separate chargers is no issue, on the road that can be problematic for a number of reasons - combined bulk, harder to pack as they’re rattling around, the place you’re staying may not have enough outlets, etc.

This looks promising... but the Amazon link has it for $99, not $80. That’s a pretty significant cost difference.

You may have answered your own question. Given that cheap Chinese products are already all over it, and have defined an price point expectation among consumers that’s too low for Samsung or Sony, they’re probably choosing to take a pass.
