It seems a bit judgemental to call Bigfoot worshippers a “cult.” Maybe they are just very dedicated viewers of Animal Planet

Here’s the before-and-after for Deadpool’s costume.
But she kinda liked Lynch’s Dune, so there’s that...
That’s just in the source material. Wanting that to be different is really wishing Frank Herbert wrote a different story than the Dune he actually wrote.
You’re the guy that wants to see Tom and Martha get shot in an alley for the 10000th time, aren’t you.
I mean, All-Star Superman, which I believe Gunn has stated is one of the primary reference points for his film, covers it like this...
GOTG’s cold open was far more origin than Incredible Hulk, which made it a montage in the film’s intro. Plus, the film was arguably an origin story for the team, more than any individual member.
I can’t wait to read their latest books.
It’s that time of year again
I fully admit that as a middle-aged, middle-class, white guy in the US, I am no authority on the immigrant experience so I’m definitely talking out of my ass. But from my perspective it seldom seems to be a significant part of his character arc, though you’re definitely right that keeping his secret identity is a…
This is a guy who cast his first mainstream movie with Pam Grier and Robert Forster, who studios considered over the hill has-beens in 1997. I really don’t think he cares about big stars or established names. It’s always about the vibe.
I mean far be it from me to tell Tarantino how to cast his movies, but I think people might be more likely to go see a movie starring Zendaya and Maya Hawke. But what do I know
I agree, though I thought the idea floating around for Kill Bill 3 starring Zendaya as Vernita Green’s daughter looking for revenge on Maya Hawke would have been cool.
I’m not saying it has to take up a substantial part of the movie. But I think if you’re trying to establish a new version of the legend, it should be there, even if it’s just taking up a few minutes. It can be concise, it doesn’t have to be like a whole other sci-fi movie jammed into a superhero film.
But he never really saw the world he lost either? He left when he was an infant and had no agency in the decision, and doesn’t really seem to know what happened to it until he starts doing the Superboy stuff in high school(I have not read the comics in decades so this may have changed significantly).
Some stories about Superman are interesting because they deal with the immigrant experience in the USA.
I remember someone (Kevin Smith, maybe?), back around the time Superman Returns came out, defending the omission of an origin story from that film by saying something like, “There are three characters whose origins never have to be shown in a movie again: Superman, Batman, and Jesus. We know where they came from, just…
The problem is that we’ve already had that origin story in live action and around 3-4 times in animation over the last 20 years. Everyone already knows the story so it really isn’t necessary to go over it again.
It’s a nice idea in theory, but do you want another dystopia of crystals and rocks? Because this is how you get another dystopia of crystals and rocks.
Something about Suletta being explicitly in recovery with visible scars and mobility issues and crutches instead of magically being healed by the power of Permet in a finale that aired at the start of Disability Pride Month made me very happy. As did the wedding rings.
