Plenty of guys convert them to newer detroit iron to get around that (and get more power). Buick 3800 v6's or 215 v8's. The modern GM 60* v6's are gaining a following too.
Agreed ... I had a 66 Triumph TR-4A. It was fun between the frequent visits for engine dyspepsia, and refused to ignite at all when the temp fell to 40F.
As a college student that is in love with British sports cars, that's exactly why I want one. Yes they're British so they will need lot's of working on. They're more exotic than a Miata, though and cheap and plentiful and parts are easy to come by. They're a great entry point into classic cars.
