Learned that leasing isn't for me. I was in my mid-20s, went to lease a new Mini, only to find out that instead of being a 'price of vehicle, divided by X number of months' type of equation, it's all vague and dubious math that they won't show you. I think they look you up and down and then make up a number. I didn't

SR-71 Blackbird caveat is my favorite caveat

This is one of the only cars I point to as an example of when the convertible looks better than the coupe.

Stylistically, the chrome-bumper C3s look great to me, especially as a 'vert.

Outstanding article, tough questions. I wasn't at Lime Rock this year but your words created an atmosphere of uneasiness that made me feel like I was.

that's probably the kindest response I could have hoped for

Great writeup! I loved the F50 when I was a teenager. I remember scouring the internet for spy-photos of the then-secret F50 GT1.

Yep, you're right

Stirling Moss, a man who's retirement is very nearly old enough to be eligible for retirement.

Great comment, I'm mostly just ignorant to this scene.

Old MGs. I'm sure they're fun but they seem.... not worth the maintenance headache. If I'm going to suffer that much for an English car I'd prefer it be a Lotus.

Ha! That's hilarious. The funny thing about this topic is that I used to have a 350Z and it didn't have nearly enough grill openings, real or fake. I wanted to to brake ducts but without changing the bumper or cutting into it, it would have been challenging, and robbed air from the radiator. So if I had a sports car

Yes, definitely!

Sure, I didn't mean to sound hostile or anything! With a dremel and an afternoon, anything is possible.

I'd be okay with every manufacturer using glossy black surfaces in every instance where they were going to use a honeycomb fake grill. If the designers want a 'grill' as a styling feature but there is no functional need for a grill, the Model S and the BMW i8 seem like a more elegant solution.

Not sure if you'd want to, you'd be most likely undoing tons of wind tunnel testing and hurting fuel mileage, and possibly introducing turbulence/wind noise into the cabin. Just a guess.

I like the new headlights but I don't like the separation of the body-colored grill section to the body-colored bumper. When it was chrome, it made sense that it was separate components. Now it's all the same color, and draws attention to what it is: a mid-cycle refresh.

awesome!
