They want to win the big deal prestigious movie awards, most of which require a theatrical release.

I know the Paramount case. I’m confused as to how Netflix’s plan does not violate that. I thought the reason Netflix wanted to buy a theatre chain/theatres was to distribute thier own Netflix original content.

Seasons 1 and 2 were great, and season 3 was okay. My big problem is what happens with so many shows of this type. They have to turn it into this dark gritty season long story-arc about a massive big bad and end the case of week story structure that made the series so much fun to begin with.

I’m totally with you on Slash-Fics. Just to clarify there is plenty of fan-fiction out there that isn’t slash.

I like the idea of limits how much companies can charge, especially your formula of “X times the cost of production.” I would also add that Y amount has to go to research and develop, because in theory the reason often given for the price is that money has to go to R&D because not everything works/becomes profitable.

Agreed. I get that developing drugs is expensive and not everything works and becomes profitable. That’s just part of scientific research. If Drug X costs $1 to make, I have no problem with the company that created it charging $5 per pill. They need to make a profit to subsidize future research. Suddenly charging $50

I don’t agree with you about Jess. People change as they get older. Just because someone was a certain why in high school does not mean they have to stay that way forever. Someone could have a serious leap in maturity between the ages of 18 and 21. I think that’s what happened to Jess.

It was probably fanfic heaven back then, it’s just that without internet fewer people had the ability to share what they had written.

That’s who I was thinking of. I just couldn’t remember the name. Also, I agree with everything you wrote.

We lost a legend and someone who changed the look/feel of television. I can’t remember who it was but there was someone from the creative team of “Miami Vice” who also worked on “Hill Street Blues.”

I think the key is to make it about the peope/characters and the relationships and not focus so much on the sports/baseball aspect of it.

Unless a person has close to unlimited free time or well above average self-control, steering clear of TV Tropes is usally good advice.

I know. I would love to see Wakko, Yakko and Dot running around the Trump White House making him look stupid and upseting him. I also want the three characters to great real life Twitter accounts, so Trump could have Twitter battles with cartoon characters.

In college my friends and I came up with a plot for a Carmen Sandiego movie. A diverse group of teenagers lands in detention and are at risk of failing some classes. A history teacher offers them extra-credit. He’s part of the team trying to capture Carmen Sandiego and for reasons the plot demands has the teenagers

Yes, but I was focusing on the multi-part episodes (and I have no idea why). Although the King’s Island episode is good, it just isn’t the same league as the Grand Canyon trip or the Hawaii trip. It’s just not as iconic.

If we’re going Brady Bunch, Grand Canyon or Hawaii is the big question.

CBS skews older. My theory is that during the 1970s they figured out how to create programs that Boomers wanted to watch and stuck with the demographic. Boomers are still enough of a demographic/have significant buying buying that advertisers are still willing to buy time on shows that skew older/appeal to Boomers.

Maybe this a regional thing, but I don’t think of Toys R Us as mall based. Growing up, there were always freestanding stores or part of a larger shopping center. I think of KB Toys as the toy store that was mall based.

I love the original animated version. When winter sportsball (basketball to those who care) kept going into overtime causing my holiday animated classic to be eviscerated, I bought the DVD of the original animated version so I would be able to watch the entire thing.

Plus, they are furry little MacGyvers. Those traps that they created worked, and that’s pretty impressive when you’re a kid. This brings up an important question. In a fight between Ewoks and Kevin McCallister, who would win?
