The whole point of getting a big-ass 4k TV, and a surround system was to enjoy a more cinematic experience at home...
That said, the show WAS very dark. Effectively so, sometimes; frustratingly full of compression artifacts in others...

Syfy seems to take great delight in pulling the plug at season 4 so they don’t hit the five year mark and perhaps HAVE to commit to strong renegotiation with the talent...
I liked Season One, though I hated the rather abrupt ending...
Season Two, which you say is supposed to pick up the pace, started with a first episode that felt like a slog through deep mud...that hour felt SO drawn-out...and in the end I realized I didn’t care. (I’ve read the book, I know where it’s going, eventually.)
