Kip Russell: Has Spacesuit, will babble

first thing that popped into my head...

we live in magical times, fellows...

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

That seems reasonable: the brass is thinking "well, as long as we've got someone "boldly going," we can let the "boldly standing" do it's own thing" :)

Not surprising to hear, really:

DS9 only got that way starting in the second season...prior to that they were beholden to the Cardinal Rule of Syndication: Thou Shall Not Require Backstory to "Get" An Episode.

thank you for saying.

that's great.

We are in agreement on the idea that the Law is intended to protect society (first).

I might get some flack for this, but I accept my high school law teacher's statement, that the purpose of the Law is not to punish, but to protect society.

agreed.

I'm reminded of something Laurie Anderson said back in the 80s or early 90s.

as Walter Glenn said: "And people would have gone to see a zombie movie with Brad Pitt whether it was named World War Z or not."

"And people would have gone to see a zombie movie with Brad Pitt whether it was named World War Z or not."

c'est dommage...you can have all the right parts, and the whole machine functions, and still not get any traction...

BTW, anyone else agree that the slitscan effects at the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey are still pretty frakking awesome even though we have such advanced CGI available?

yeah, I've got one of their albums, too.

Stay Strong, True Believer!

this is the cover of a CD by a friend's (long defunct, now) band. This shot was done out-of-doors (this camera needs A LOT of light) in a park.

I'd be the last person to argue that a Hollywood executive ACTUALLY had their finger on the pulse... :)
