Aristotle Athari has been in basically two sketches this entire season, and both of them have been squarely in my wheelhouse. The Laughingtosh 3000 bit was so insanely tight. From the first seconds, it was clear that the studio audience was just looking for the punchlines, but I was riveted immediately by how

I don’t know her music well and obviously don’t know everything that happened in all her relationships, but does she ever acknowledge even possibly being at any fault in the breakups or is it always 100% the guy’s fault?

That’s what it means in this context and (professional musician here) though it wasn’t particularly terrible pitch-wise, it just wasn’t good. She was just vocally shaky, though I appreciate that she was singing live. She’s not a good singer. Or a good writer. But I’m clearly in the minority and she doesn’t need me to

I’ll definitely be in the minority here, but I just...don’t get it. Good for her for singing live, though she’s not much of a singer, and the song...isn’t much of a song. It’s a ragey breakup anthem, but in the pantheon of pop songwriting, it’s not particularly distinguished one musically or lyrically other than its

Adam Feldman, the Time Out New York theater critic, pointed out that Cecily and Bowen’s sketch was likely heavily influenced by Bea Arthur and Rock Hudson:

Thankfully, Taylor and I only went on one date and mutually agreed there wasn’t a lot of chemistry and we each paid for our own coffee and donut, so there are no vicious songs coming about me.

The misuse of “non-diegetic” here is pretty egregious. The singing is absolutely diegetic. The characters sing it. It might be a kind of fantasy, but it’s definitely happening in the world of the film.

Mmmm, forbidden science....

Paul Rudd feels like kale to me, something that people make a really big deal out of and are constantly talking about how great it is but I just don’t see the appeal or interest.

He was fine in ‘Into the Woods’ and not the problem with either ‘Cats’ or ‘The Prom’ - I didn’t see ‘Cinderella’ so can’t comment on that - so is this just an inexplicable backlash, a la Anne Hathaway a few years ago, or do people have a problem with James Corden for a reason?

I still think Anthony Atamanuik’s Trump impression was the best. He didn’t nail the physicality or voice exactly, but he created a very consistent character of Trump as a deeply selfish, emotionally and intelectually stunted manchild who exists in his own world, is incredibly pathetic and sad yet never actually

Is 39 now middle aged?

Is 39 middle aged?

JAJ’s Trump is technically very good, and obviously leagues better than Baldwin’s take... but for me, Anthony Atamanuik still reigns supreme for his Trump, which he was able to turn into a fully realized character that was different enough from the real person to offer a more engaging point of view.

I had the same reaction. There’s no take or point of view, it’s just an accurate Trump. Which, why? Please just let this shit die.

People didn’t laugh at Johnson’s Trump because it wasn’t funny. Yes, it was technically very good, and the loopy choplogic topic switches were well written. But the precision ruined the comedy by making Trump seem too smart and engaged. That’s the problem with injecting too much cleverness into a Trump impression:

This news popped into my (site that shall not be named) feed this morning, and commenters of a certain political affiliation were Losing Their Shit. One man went so far to say he would not be seeing Saving Private Ryan sans realistic guns. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that Dwayne Johnson’s decree would not be

Could we write more movies and TV shows that don’t require the use of firearms in the first place? Or is that way too crazy to even consider?

He’s not my favorite but he’s been president for TEN MONTHS.
