The first time I heard the hinox theme I was giggling with delight since they went out of their way to mimic old tokusatsu music. So unexpected and different.

Part of this is that the original game’s hardware had limited polygon and texture capabilities, so everyone’s features were EXTREMELY over-exaggerated. It was really the only way you could create visually-distinctive 3D character models back then. Cloud’s feet were bigger than his thighs, Barret’s hands were bigger…
It’s a minority for sure... people were screaming their heads off in excitement at Tifa at the reveal at that square enix conference.
I think it’s telling that in 2019 Tifa is still remembered and talked about because of her tits, and not her character...
Wow.... this is the breast equivalent of “Are migrant detention centers concentration camps? Ya or nah?” debate. Utterly pointless and vapid. But it has identified all the creepers lurking in your comments section. Did he say “bind” or “reduce”? Who cares? Why are we even discussing this? The more important part is…
I’m here, just happy these characters look human.
Jason, I really appreciate you bringing up how customizable controls are an accessibility issue. I think abled game developers forget that not everyone is able to play a game the exact way they dreamed up in the first place, and having options for those players really helps expand the audience that can enjoy their art!
I love the idea that they just had so many good items that they just went “yup, time for another game”. That’s the way all development should be. A few dlcs here or there, but if you’ve got so many ideas that dlc isn’t going to work, build a new one.
I think you’re right overall. LoM had some big gameplay issues and as cool as the self-contained story areas were, I think it suffered from a lack of overall narrative thread. But damn if it wasn’t endearing. Maybe the most vibrant 2D art ever made, a masterful soundtrack, and just the overall liveliness of the…
You want to bring back the Mana series in full swing? I’d better see a Legend of Mana remake in there...
I think a good way to frame it is that BotW is one of the few open world games out there that’s more interested in the journey than the end-point. And to that effect, I absolutely get why that has resulted in a population of people who balked at the weapon-breaking mechanics, the subdued plot, and the general lack of…
I think it could use a bit more interesting progression, and it certainly had its flaws, but I absolutely loved the aimlessness. I know a lot of people felt like the map felt pretty empty, but that’s kind of the way I like it. It feels silly to bring Skyrim up in comparison, but the actual physical world of Skyrim…
Hyrule castle a fully fleshed out Dungeon? I remember getting in it and going pretty much straight to where the Ganon encounter was. A fully fleshed out Dungeon in terms of zelda, to me at least, has a pretty set linear flow. It might branch once or twice, but those branches are more like two things you have to do in…
Mmmmm... Cookie Crisp.
honestly you end up getting so many weapons that I was annoyed my weapons weren’t breaking fast enough
when I finally got to Hyrule Castle and discovered it was a fully fleshed out Zelda dungeon
Enjoy your granola grandpa! I’m having scrambled eggs with English muffins topped with Flathead cherry/habanero jam.
I admit, one of my favorite things a game sequel does is when it takes a beloved part of a prior game and “recycles” it in a new and creative way.
It’s so sad that an article like this has to be filled with so many “This isn’t laziness” qualifications, because gamer culture has devolved so badly into a state of “UGH LAZY GAME DEVS” idiocy in the last decade or so.
