Woof, you got some fancy friends/family/people-you-met-on-the-street who won’t take a free car. I would probably fly out to wherever you are and drive it home to the West Coast if you offered it.

I cannot get behind paying that much for a CVPI. I paid $4500 for my 2003 and it was too much. I loved the car, and got my money's worth learning how to fix it, but these cars are almost always beaten absolutely to shit - and while low idle time is good, you're going to want to go through the suspension on that thing…
As an ex-Panther owner I think this is the right choice. There's something about Panthers, and the Luxo-barge edition doesn't try to pose as anything but a couch on wheels.
You have made the right choice here. It is very likely that my next car will be an X-Type - although I've given up hope about finding a wagon. The sedans are pretty popular still in the Pacific Northwest and I actually like how they look - especially with the right wheels.
The camper shell hides the junk. The branch-scratches and general filthiness of the outside of my 2004 does give it away a little.
I absolutely love reading things like this, thanks for sharing.
This is a real thing, I just moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to Portland and people are courteous here to the point where it can be hazardous - however, in general, I would take this kind of driving in a heartbeat over the "driving 80MPH with my eyes closed" thing that CA drivers do.
This just in general. I yell at my buddy all the time about this - he has newish (05 I believe) Tacoma and I'm constantly catching him let it 'warm up', even in the summer.
I REALLY like that it has zero wheels on the ground in two of the four pictures. This is the best thing I've seen all day. Maybe all year.
For number 7 are we counting variable-assist power steering? Or whatever other manufacturers call it? This is a pretty common feature on most modern-ish cars with power steering, where it gets nice and soft like grandma's Buick when you're at low speeds but tightens up at highway speeds. I like this feature, I want…
This. My last car was an 03 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and it had no arm wrest (since there was supposed to be a laptop or a shotgun or something between the seats). I logged a lot of miles in that thing, and missed having a place to put my right arm the entire time.
Admit it, you expected it to be awesome.
When I bought my truck, it had blind spot mirrors glued into the corners of the stock mirrors. They looked ridiculous. "I'll have to take those off" I thought to myself.
THIS. My 04 Ranger is optioned basically exactly how I would like it, basic everything but all the drivetrain options ticked. The only thing that I wish it had was a tilt-wheel.
But I really enjoy that I got to read a second post about this and it's making me happy, so I disagree. I come to Jalopnik BECAUSE they follow up ass-hattery with second posts like this.
As recent first-time pickup buyer I can say that this is the most accurate technical analysis on pickup truck performance characteristics I've come across to date.
Well, time to rob a bank.
I guess I don't have the same disdain for truckers that everyone else seems to. Just spent over 25 hours on the road this weekend (mostly on I5 between Northern CA and Northern Oregon) and didn't get stuck behind any of them for longer than a few minutes while they set up and safely completed passes. Saw lots of…
