Thats the thing about Wakanda: its a fusion between ancient tradition and adcanced modernism. They slavishly worship tradition despite being such a technologically forward people. Its like this in the comics as well. The nation has always wrestled with this dichotomy. Wakanda is a CONTRADICTION.

Yep, I see the god-complex shining through too...then when reality sets in and the finiteness of themselves is fully exposed, there’s nowhere to go but down - and falling from god is a long way down

Igbos from Nigeria were doing quite well with their own Senate-esque rule of a Council of elected Chiefs before the British came and decided that having puppet Kings made it easier to govern the natives.

Yeah they could have easily ditched it or made it simply an ancient tradition that isn’t done anymore. That way when Killmonger brings it up it helps to show how different he is from T’Challa.

LOL! This is fucking great!

Honestly, as a white woman, I was encultured to support my man-boy partner by making him feel strong and powerful, even though I knew deep down inside that he was a whiny little bitch. He had to be the hero of every story, and it was my job to bend and twist reality to match his expectations. Any time his faults and

A lot of people with privilege see things like a toddler wrt to that privilege.

I know you’re in the UK, so there’s maybe some difference. But from the American white men I know and grew up around—including friends and former friends of the white male I married—they feel like they’re owed. A lot. This was the primary motivation former white male friends are no longer my friends. It doesn’t matter

The story that will always make me extremely angry:

The older I get, the more I understand why conspiracy theories exist. It’s easier to believe some singular individual or small group of people are screwing you over than it is to understand that all of these decision makers don’t get a damn about people who look like you. Conversely, it’s easier to believe that

That might be the worst thing ever.

The White corner boys of the 80s.

I hate it so much I love it.

Please tell me you listened to the How Did this Get Made eps when they discuss teen witch. It’s fantastic.

I think watching that gave me a membership to bass pro

Very heavy episode indeed, I am pretty sure everyone knew Gambi was into some shit, just not that bad. And damnit if that wasn’t a near literal ton to drop on Jefferson in like, five minutes.

Also Flash’s mentoring sucks. I liked the subtle questions he was asking. “Why did you hurt that guy? He wasn’t a threat just because of the t-shirt he was wearing.”, and “When you’re powered up, do you resist radiation? Poison? Do you sink or can you swim?”, and of course “How much force do you need?”

Hipsters are people that are deathly allergic to anything considered to be the least bit common place and popular, yet their extra ass efforts to prove how avant-garde and against the grain they are just proves how boring they truly are.

Jefferson is the best mentor. Centering the show on the experienced hero who’s already worked through (most) of his issues continues to pay dividends. There’s a weight to his performance that Amell — who’s trying to do a similar thing on Green Arrow — can’t match.

If my tipping preference was 15%, I’d look at it as $1.50 for every $10.00. But I do 20% because I’m math-dumb $2 for every $10 is easier for me, and I waited and bartended for 5 years or-so. :)
