Miniature horses are actually pretty popular choices too. They are the only other legally defined capable-guide animal. They weigh in around 75-100 lbs and can be a working partner for 20 years or more. It takes a few years to train them to be useful, but once trained they are about as capable as a typical guide dog.

I don’t think its veterinarians who certify support animals. They are concerned with the health of the animal, not the mental health of the human. ESA certs come from people shrinks.

I live in the PNW and our fields in the middle of the wet winters will swallow a tractor whole if its too heavy and your tire pressures are too high. Then, if you forget to air up the tires before heading in to the forest you’re in for a bad time and pierced tires.

I think mostly you’re correct with offroading / overlanding. It’ll be a little annoying to not be able to change tire pressures for more grip or better economy though.

Scared of plastic bags, squeaky shoes and the sound of zippers and yet they’ll waltz onto a bus. sheesh.

yes

My dad has a deposit in on the Rivian. I talked with him about the Tesla truck and he can't take its looks. I wouldnt normally think of him as the type to spend that much on a car, but he said it just spoke to him. I wonder how many Tesla folks are going to have this design speak to them.

You’re arguing a separate point, but I’ll entertain it.

Oh, completely agree. The energy density of electric cars still sucks compared to fueled vehicles.

Yeah? Go ahead and prove your point then.

It just seems like the obvious choice for anyone who wants to mobs of vehicles. Set it up so every fleet out there can just switch their boxes from a gas cutaway cab to an electric cutaway cab and they’ll do it. The operating costs will be lower, the convenience will typically be higher (especially if the vehicles

Oy. Think just a little harder about the intent of my statement.

I think the Tesla is a unibody - something I still don’t think precludes an E-series style of truck. The cab can be unibody and still have a frame for the rear wheels / battery box.

Can someone just deliver the skateboard chassis they are making to aftermarket peeps? Ford already calls it the E series - just make that thing electric and every plumber, people transporter, city delivery person is going to buy a variant.

Yeah, where are the level bed sides? Options for non-factory beds? These are the things that will make that truck useful to people who actually use a truck for its truck capabilities.

Yep, totally agree. The national grid is still pretty dirty. Daytime grids tend to be much cleaner than at night until you get to the coal and gas only sections of the country.

Eh, you just add more poles for a lower speed motor - no need for additional gears.

What source are you using for the electricity? In my state we ONLY have water and nuclear energy - so zero CO2 from electric cars.

Not if they’re made for low rpms. But then they don’t like high rpms.

Yeah, a gallon of diesel has 38kwh of energy though. So, if you start comparing kwh of energy used in both cases they come out pretty close to the same with the Tesla still being overall more efficient.
