Well I work in real estate, so I am confronted by shady characters all of the time. Luckily I’ve built my business in close cooperation with a few genuine people so I can basically avoid the unscrupulous folk.

I only need a new car every 7-10 years, so patience wins that game.

Once you can pay cash, though, you can also qualify for free-financing from a lot of car manufacturers for their new cars. That means you can actually set up an account which pays you interest on your car purchase amount while the loan gets paid rather than paying interest. 

I think the answer here is ‘it depends’. For instance, buying my Ioniq new from Hyundai gave me a manufacturer lifetime battery replacement warranty with the caveat being it is only valid for the first owner. Buying that car used might not have been as effective of a life-of-the-vehicle purchase because of that…

This is essentially my approach to buying a car. I wait until someone is offering me free money financing and buy the car with that loan. Then I set up an auto pay from a dedicated savings account. Makes at least 2% interest on the money for the car rather than spending 2% on it.

Seems to me that power steering, automatic gearboxes, electronic fuel injection are all driver aids according to the FIA
