Coasting and brake discipline are probably the easiest and least intrusive hypermiling techniques that everyone can use in their daily commute. Those first few Mph take a considerable amount of energy and wear on a vehicle.

A male Maine Coon can tip the scales at 18lbs while being perfectly fit.

Ioniq too.

It really depends on how the travel time thing works, right? Some travel is time dependant while others are mileage dependant. In a high traffic area, you probably want to argue for time compensation, etc.

Yeah, if they’re 1099 (I am as a real estate broker), then they can really only get ~$0.10 - $0.15 per mile in actual ‘credit’ (derived from $0.56 / mile deduction multiplied by the income tax rate). If the company isn’t paying relatively more for the job which could be counted as compensation, then this lower amount

We need the Transit Courier over here in the US. Its 163" in length and is the perfect utilitarian ‘little’ car.

I’ve considered getting a different seat for her as well. The top trim HR-V seems to have a better seat.

Tercel? Comes in AWD.....

I drove one of these yesterday - pretty nice all around. Sportier than my Ioniq but I wasn’t convinced its a better choice than the Ioniq. The Elantra GT gets pretty terrible mileage for how small it is.

I wouldn’t think this is unpopular at all. Really, if she is using the thing for work she shouldn’t be paying for the vehicle at all - or at least should be fully compensated.

Most likely. My wife is a mobile practitioner and her work supplies the vehicle and equipment.

Yeah, OKC gets like 8" of snow total every year. The bigger danger is heat.

Ok, fair enough on the typo.

Not in the trunk (what my Missouri family calls a ‘way back’) though.

Microvan?

I thought I was pushing it recommending a $22k car! Sure, my recommendation comes out pretty even in the end being the fuel sipper that it is, but it's still more up front.

IDGAF if my commuter is boring - so is traffic and I’m already stuck in it! Give me a good stereo for podcast listening and a civilized interior and I’m set. If the family is coming along, I’ll take the safest car out there too.

The Europeans get all of the tall hatchbacks and were stuck with CUVs. Sure, there is an extra 3" of ground clearance but I would have preferred an extra 3" of headroom. And giving me both is not what I asked for.

The Niro is a good choice. Its not quite as good for sticking dogs in the way back, but for stuff back there it's great.

Things inside don't get wet...
