Your original analogy, along with you, is completely missing the point. The debate moderator asked Beto about confiscating ASSAULT RIFLES. The question was not “what would you do to curb gun violence”, or “what do you think the biggest contributor to gun violence is.” It was specifically about ASSAULT RIFLES.…

Do you know what a strawman is? It’s making an argument by refuting an argument that wasn’t actually made. So again, what part of Beto was specifically being asked about assault rifles do you not understand?

A larger case? There is no argument here from Rafi that focusing on rifles is pointless (which is an absolutely absurd statement). The article is two paragraphs long. The first explains what Beto said, and the second says, using the strawman of “but what about hand guns”, that his answer wasn’t good enough.

Its a strawman because the question he was asked was specifically about assault rifles.
