Im kind of thinking this would be a cool car to bring to whatever the 2000s version of Redwood will be whenever it becomes a thing.

Have to say,I preferred the swoopier fender lines on the 2nd gen...

Chevy: “Hey, we need a new large performance coupe with a luxury-ish feel to compete with Ford.”
Also Chevy: “Well, we’re ‘00s GM, so there’s no way we can do luxury. But we do make some honking big engines that fit anywhere!”

It’s in exquisite shape, it rides on a sturdy platform, the miles aren’t crazy, but...gah, it’s FWD and the ugliest generation of Monte Carlo. It looks like two different committees designed it above and below the beltline. Some eye bleach:

You know what makes this car cool?

Now playing

Yuri from TheStraightPipes would gladly discuss his:

Henry Ford was like, ‘Nah, I’ve already got one car company run by an anti-semitic megalomaniac, why do I need another?’

Agreed. Saturn was so much more than a division. It represented an effort to change the culture of GM. Ultimately, I think GM was too entrenched in the old ways to benefit from the existence of Saturn. Saab could have been the premium equivalent.

GM’s Diesel 350's

Decimal point is in wrong spot in the price. $38.00 sounds about right. Hell, maybe even forty bucks! And that’s if the seller delivers it to my garage.

I didn’t read the description or look at the pictures. I lived through this automotive era (and many others) and most everything from Detroit and elsewhere was CRAP. Quality, performance, style; utter dreck. Why someone would pay actual money for this is astounding. No Dice.

Having been in many K-cars, the 50-50 is baffling me too. I think it’s like people voting for Sanjaya for American Idol as a joke. You couldn’t pay me enough to drive or even be seen in this thing.

I’m honestly baffled that this car is hovering around 50/50 NP/CP

you all are obviously too young to remember just how shitty these cars were compared to all other shitty american shit cars of the same era.  this car is fully representative of the Malaise era.

I mean, they were absolute shit.

Yeah, I mean there’s a reason Chrysler equipped these things with five digit odometers.

We also had an ‘88 Reliant. It was in that car I learned to drive.

Hell yeah.  We had an ‘88 Reliant (oxymoronic name!!), it was crap.  Think Neon, but made out of cardboard.

Yeah, not a big fan of the K car.  These were garbage from the factory.

Not a chance. The engine swap is a less common take on a common theme, but behind (in front of) that flat 6, the stock transaxle is not long for this world.

Krazy Times are here again. A VW that’s 30 years old for more than a whole slew of 2020 new cars! And why exactly do you need 240hp in something like this? Ain’t gonna help the driving ‘dynamics’ any.
