... and now they will build hybrids!

I traded a V6 GMC Terrain for Hybrid Venza. Couldn’t be happier, I get 32-44 mpg in local driving, where I was getting 15 - 20 mpg before. Toyota has perfected the parallel hybrid technology over the past 25+ years. Friends with Toyota hybrids don’t experience any additional maintenance / repair issues.

Putting aside PHEVs, which we know are hot, “standard” hybrids are also in high demand. Take the RAV Hybrid or the Venza, for example. Almost none on the lots and dealers are marking these up like crazy. A dealer told me that the markup goes up as an unsold car gets closer to delivery. I opted to buy a lightly 22 CPO V

Yaeh, in the 70s, we called it “vinyl”

Dealer mark-ups on non specialty, run of the mill cars.

Hmmm, I’ve seen this shape before...

I didn’t think you could make a 78 LeBaron coupe any uglier, then there’s this!

My Dad bought one of the first 1960 Comets. Sold by a Mercury dealer, it had no Mercury branding anywhere. Many people thought it was a baby Thunderbird, pretty cool styling for an econobox.

Let’s see how long it takes for someone to vote NP.  Right now ND at 9:10 with 117 votes. It should stay there all day.

It tells me what kind of person owned the car. Someoen who abuses their own eardrums and annoys others around them is likely not going to pamper a car like this.

ND The automatic was bad enough, BMW made them look like a toy shifter back in the day. But...I stopped reading when I saw the trunk. You show me shit like this, I walk...

The car was totaled by the insurance company after Grandpa crapped the seat so badly, the car was considered undrivable.

In NJ I did a search and about 25+ available vehicles popped up. I’m not in the market for any vehicle at the moment, but I’d wait that amount of time for a new vs 6 year old car.

BIG NOPE on the credit:

ND - The math doesn’t work. I can buy a new base model for under $20k (after tax credits). If this were offered by a qualified dealer, it might qualify for the used EV credit. But it’s not.

ND. Rob’s line here sums it up for me:

Hey! That’s a really nice looking truck! Almost looks too good for a 20 year old truck.

A nice Terrain in SLT or Deanali trim with the 3.6 engine offers similar creature comforts to the RX, but at a much lower price. That said, it won’t keep its value like the Japanese cars.

That must be 138,000 on the clock, as the engine has been rebuilt. Super Nope on this one. Lots of Bugs from this era are listed for sky-high prices, and they just sit.

So the GM / Hyundai / KIA / Tesla recalls are all behind us? No more Teslas / Bolts / Ionics going up in flames? Oh and I guess you must live where there are chargers up and down the boulevards, highways and byways. How about service? Are all the dealerships across the US equipped, trained and ready to deal with your
