It’s odd that scientists would think defense was a more likely primary driver of this evolution.

While all of that may be true in the over-arching sense, I haven’t heard supply-chain problems mentioned as the primary stumbling block to producing more ventilators in the immediate. If/when production ramps up lack of parts might become a problem in the future, but right now the bottleneck definitely seems to be asse

The other (also closed) auto makers are still discussing starting to produce ventilators.

While there is also a respirator shortage ... pretty sure they were asking auto makers to consider producing ventilators.

One thing I’ve learned over the years ... almost any chip can smell.

Yeah. It occurred to me that this whole outbreak might disproportionately impact the Trump-aligned political spectrum. Which brought on two immediate thoughts:

FWIW, the carrier probably isn’t tracking a phone with the battery removed for very long (granted, that’s increasingly impossible). And a (good) Faraday case should also do the trick.

There was this one ....

Yeah ... if you didn’t see her ... this female wrestler is a bad-ass too.

In general ... I expect him to try *something* before it’s all done. Pandemic or no, there is certainly a good chance Trump is not going to leave office willingly. Will he pull it off? I have no idea.

Yeah ... but he still has the active expense of managing that 60,000 acres.

Bullshit. Even if it weren’t polluting adjacent groundwater (which it undoubtedly is). Unless they’re containing the emissions somehow, making a buck filling everyone’s air with planet-killing emissions is no less a problem than making a buck polluting everyone’s water.

No way in hell Gorsuch would go for that ... and without Gorsuch, it wouldn’t happen.

Indeed. But my point is that the *structure* set up by the constitution makes it all but impossible to trivially remain in office by using executive power to prevent an election. The ultimate outcome of a nulled election is that The Speaker would become president.

I’d say “long, long” is one hell of an overstatement (and reaching across the entire globe in under three months is NOT spreading slowly by any stretch!).

Technically .... wasn’t our friend Smaug here also roaming this same public space?

I think you’ve got it about right. Verily actually has medical support/tracking systems in the marketplace already. If they play it right they can probably implement using an already-certified backbone infrastructure and shouldn’t have too much fuss with the FDA.

That is fully absurd. You aren’t even accurately describing the full process depicted in the *first* block of that workflow diagram (which, in your defense, Team Trump *is* completely mischaracterizing). You completely ignore collecting and flowing data through the rest of the steps ... in HIPPA-compliant way, no less.

Playing with elections is tricky for Trump. The constitution mandates it is up to the states to determine what happens if electors can not be duly appointed as proscribed on the first Tuesday following the Monday first of November. In most places that would typically mean special elections.

Serious question: is this service the sort of thing that would cause people who hate vertical video to have their heads explode?
