In my experience the bad "Ah, screw it" moments are when I've begun to think about a long list of measures I could possibly take to avoid/solve a problem, salvage a bad situation, etc. And then decided to ignore these productive thoughts and wing it anyway. Later comes the regret, oh, so much regret.

Don't be sad that you missed out on the PSP release. I played a lot of it, and that platform was just way too underpowered for a game on the scale of Type-0, which was trying to be a squad-oriented action wargame hybrid. It will benefit a lot from being released on a console.

Well, it would help in the beginning. After a couple of rounds, anyone will notice that they are being shot at. At that point the silencers are really useful for decreasing muzzle flash.

Correct; suppressors can improve accuracy in some cases by controlling gas ejection at the muzzle, not unlike a brake. The effect is more obvious on high power rifles.

Not so much different utility, but firearms in general. Suppressors are icing on the cake. All these common tropes like "more bullets = less damage", tracers everywhere, slow moving bullets, ridiculous shotgun spread, etc.
