Lexus will happily hand you the keys and tell you to not bin it. I bought mine after i actually took the car home and parked it in my driveway.

When I bought my del Sol, the salesman suggested a nice long route and told me he’d see me in an hour. That alone practically sold it.

I test drove a C6 Vette a few years ago. The dealership was directly across the street from the I-95 on-ramp. As soon as I give it some gas, the engine dies. Power steering gone. Dashboard turns off. Didn’t even have enough battery to turn on the emergency flashers.

Color me convinced: if I were ever desperate enough to go into car sales, which I’d be awful at anyway, I’m just handing over the keys. I hate it when the salesperson rides with me on a test drive anyway.

CP. Overpriced.

Insurance will pay what it is worth, not what it cost. As soon as you drive off the lot then, even used, the value of the car dips.

For that price I would expect a real cream puff and this car has some issues that are not in keeping with a 23K mile car. How do the wheel caps get worn, the top need replacement, and the center stack get cracked in a 23K car? The corrosion on the valve cover is pretty nasty also, suggesting this car sat out for some

Have a star! I also do not like these cars (however not because of the cuteness it is because of the tiny ass bullshit small interior space)... I do not fit (I am 6'4" and in the 250-300 lbs range), thus I can not drive it, thus crap car.

My guess is that she didn’t have GAP coverage, which is an expensive lesson. I can easily see a Kia like this losing half of the sales-price. Especially if the purchaser rolled-in some upside-down debt from a trade-in.

Nah, having been down the Miata path before I’d rather get something with much higher mileage thats been maintained. Having seen one that sat for a decade in climate controlled storage that proceeded to blow through its water pump, rad, rear main, and diff seals. Just don’t see the point for a driver.

You’re going to have depreciation and pay for maintenance whether you have a loan or not.

I think you’re underestimating the willingness of Americans to take on large sums of debt.

Why is that hard to believe? 60 month term with high interest rate, compared with a few years of depreciation, and yeah, the balance on the loan could be worth double the current value (not original value) of the car.

NP, but I think I am the only person who does not like these cars. Too cute for my taste.

Those hamsters ate the wiring.

Someone told her not to worry about the car catching fire since she’d be underwater on her loan.

Gap insurance next time?

Hola fellow engineer... UMR grad from the other side of state line!

I would be interested if they weren’t so...meh looking.
