Speaking of the 9-2X, I’m not sure what the fuck 9-2X owners are thinking when they try to sell their cars for about 2-3x what they’re actually worth. Yeah they’re rare, no they’re not valuable.

I highly doubt it. Insurance companies aren’t in the business of paying someone’s way for an indefinite amount of time.

Yeah you’d think that they never break down or need maintenance either if you listen to the Tesla dick riders.

Ok sure but Saab was going to die in 1993 if no one had helped them. They were in serious financial trouble when GM stepped in.

I’m a huge Saab fan but if we’re being honest Saab would have killed itself if GM had not intervened in the early 90's.

Yeah, unfortunately.

I was only talking about why ordinary cars are more expensive today than they were back in the day. The tuning package is a whole different matter.

I’m not really one for frankencars, so I’m not going to come up with one. But, I really miss my 2004 stage 3 Saab 9-5 Aero. ~300 hp, 350 lbs-ft of torque. Unbelievable mid range performance. Not the fastest car out there but not a whole lot of cars from the same time period could keep up with it once the turbo was

Even with the SHO badges I’m sure the masses don’t even notice. You have a true sleeper already.

You pay a big price tag if a performance/tuning company even breathes on a car that can sold new in dealerships with a warranty.

I don’t. I’ve thought about it but I don’t really have a vehicle that’s well suited for it. I’d be in the “grocery getter” category with my 2015 Mazda 6. Haha. I live in Overland Park.

I’m sure Ford’s marketing department discussed that very topic multiple times before coming up with EcoBoost. I mean you have EarthDreams from Honda, SkyActiv from Mazda, Blue Drive from Nissan, Efficient Dynamics from BMW. It’s mostly bullshit marketing gimmicks to make people think their car is more fuel efficient

Haha let’s not kid ourselves, an EcoBoost F-150 is not a race car but a regular cab F-150 with the 3.5 EcoBoost is one hell of a hot rod truck.

They are but it doesn’t outweigh the cons for me. They’re cramped and uncomfortable. I couldn’t live with one every day.

Yeah, pretty much.

I can’t wait to watch the PR people scramble to find a way to explain why a three-cylinder engine is somehow better to the V-8 obsessed average truck buyer.

Well the big difference is that there weren’t nearly as many government mandated safety features and emissions control devices that were required to be equipped on vehicles back then. Also, consumers didn’t demand expensive technology and infotainment in vehicles back then. Mostly because it simply did not exist. More

That’s kind of awesome. Lexus does pride itself on its dealership experience though so I can’t say I’m surprised.

Probably depends on the type of the car, too. Someone test driving a Mazda3 is much less likely to be a joy rider than someone test driving a Corvette or a Mustang.

All of the “big box” new car dealerships I’ve ever been to seem to require a salesperson to be in the car with you on test drives. Some of the independent used car dealers don’t care though. On the other hand some do. It’s a crapshoot.
