My whole life I’ve wanted car companies to make their concept cars but they never do and I always wondered why. Well the comments show why, because people are full of crap. People say they want a futuristic car or something out of bladerunner. They say they want something unique but at the end of the day they buy a

I think the development of both us better for us. Sweet tech is being developed and the demand for pure EVs is huge.

This makes me happy and sad at the same time.

Shrug. If the EV has pretty strong braking regen, then the driving experience is actually pretty similar to a manual, except for the whole choosing your own gears and doing the clutch pedal thing.

The 300,000 lbs towing capacity that Musk mentioned might not be the same as a 300,000 lbs tow rating. For example a Tundra towed the Space Shuttle which amounted to almost 300,000 lbs:

There is an entire population of people who care about scifi and are enamored by recent advances in EVs but give zero fucks about cars in general. For them, this will be amazeballs.

Die, Stan, Die!

Yup. Always trust the Germans. That’s my motto.

Power outages by me during a hurricane meant gas cars were stuck too. Turns out gas stations use electric pumps. Who knew?

A model 3 would be an interesting choice to add to this list.

Let me save everyone some time. Conclusions - traction control on: Audi slightly better. Traction control off: Audi more sloppy than the others. Trade-offs abound, and no real standout winner.

You’re welcome.

The best AWD is electric AWD.

I feel as if Tesla is going to be a +40 year old company and yet we are still debating whether or not they will be profitable or vanish from existence.

This is a very sad story. This lawsuit will be thrown out.

In 20 years when all new cars are EV’s, we will look back on this last gasp of ICE cars and their increasingly stupid-looking giant grilles and wonder what hell everyone was thinking. Like parachute pants.

I live in a city and could easily charge an EV. I would’ve bought one of these if they were on sale last year, instead I bought a new Fiesta ST.

Tesla seems to be busy proving that EVs aren’t that hard a sell, you just have to make something better than a quirky looking Kei car or a compliance car. People still want normal looking cars, that perform decently, have good range, and don’t cost any more than a regular new ICE car. AFAICT that leaves only the Model

I wonder what happened three years ago that made the Japanese think the U.S. wouldn’t want a small electric car and would start regressing as a country?

More reasons the dealership model needs to adapt or perish.

Is my mind playin’ tricks on me, or are those press photos absurdly heavily photoshopped? I know that some touch-ups are normal, but look at that shit! The paint can’t decide if it’s glossy, metallic, or satin, and the wheels+brakes look like two dimensional textures!
